Since it was obvious that Jay and Tresticles were full of shit that he was 100% and could make all the throws, run all the plays , etc when does Cutler who now has a balky ankle plus a sore groin get to start again?

I think they can win the next three games without him, so week 13 against the cowboys.

If anyone is listening to this presser, the biggest take-away for me is how much he loves Jay. Like, really really loves him.

Not listening, but if ever he has anything to say about a player (and he's said a lot), its how he really really loves him(them)

It almost seems as if his first year status has him looking for too much acceptance and a bit stiff to make meaningful in game adjustments. Given his position, it's understandable.

NAS, this was posted to twitter after I wrote that, so ease up:

The way Trestman unapologetically supports using Cutler, raves about play, has "no regrets," leaves little doubt what Bears think long-term.

That is dumb.

If there was little doubt about the long-term Cutler would have a 5 year deal right now.

I think Haugh is incredibly naive if he really thinks that. Trestman is going to hype all his players, it's part of his coaching personality and his emphasis on positivity, which is similar to a lot of other coaches.

Nah. They wanted to see how well he'd work with Trestman. And they aren't breaking their "no in season extension" rule.

Seriously though, listen to it. He was gushing. He went as far as to say that Jay asked him whether he was hurting the football team during the game, and Trestman assured him he wasn't. Seriously.

So, do you think Cutler gets a 5 year deal at the end of the year?

I did listen to it. It was standard coach speak we hear from every coach. I'm sure the coaches in Minnesota sound the same about Ponder.

I didn't say that, and I don't know why you are so hellbent on me committing to some contract numbers. I don't know what's going to happen, and I don't feel the need to predict it. As a fan, I hope Jay is the quarterback.

If you heard it and didn't think that was over the top (even compared to recent weeks talking about Jay), then we'll agree to disagree. It's not worth arguing, I'm just guessing based on what I heard.

I assume you know that about 50% or more of whatever we hear in coach/GM press conferences is choreographed, team-propagandized BS, right?

100%. It was still over the top, IMO. I listen to most of his press conferences. Today was different.

I could totally be wrong, though. Just trying to read tea leaves.

Don't be like that. You talk about his contract when it fits your needs. In that other thread, you said that Jay was going to get a huge contract. Stop talking about it if you don't want to talk about it. Stop posting twitter comments designed to say Jay Cutler is going to be here awhile if you aren't willing to say Jay will be here awhile.

No it doesn't.

He's just supporting his guy right now. What is he supposed to say to the press? "Jay Sucks"? "He's finished in this city?". The coach is saying all the right things. If he starts questioning his own calls, the press will be all over him. They will get rid of Cutler in the off-season if they feel there are better options elsewhere.

I'm not into the macho message board prediction game. I don't know if he will be here, so even if I were to guess and get it right, it means nothing. It's a guess, who cares.

The only thing for sure, is that I WANT him to be here. I don't know if that is a long term deal or franchise.

I'm not even really asking for a prediction. I want you to tell me what you think the value is of Jay Cutler. You seem to think Jay deserves a big long term deal. I don't understand why. I want to know how much and how long.

I do have to laugh at "macho message board".

Wait a second? Trestman ruled out Cutler for Sunday? Why? Make Baltimore prepare for him.

Why can't that ankle get better? It was well enough for him to play yesterday. Can only get better.

Granted, coaches have to let people know who practiced and McCowen will get all of the reps. Still, you can make them study game film of Cutler until Wenesday. That's the first practice day.

As do the Lions, Packers and Vikings. The NFC North loves Cutler too.

I think Jay will either be franchised, or get a long term contract (from the Bears or another team).

Why do I think that?

Because he will be the biggest QB free agent in a long time, but for Peyton and because there are a ton of shitty quarterbacks in the NFL.
