Wow. Way to go out on a limb and say that Jay won't be out of the league.

Do you think he will get a long term deal?

I've finally fallen out of the Jay No Matter What fan club ... maybe it's his fault, maybe it's not his fault ... I've reached a point where I don't give a damn. The marginal value of Jay Cutler, regardless of fault, is well below what his (surely) expected pay expectations are, franchise or not.

Other than Punch & Judy #15, I also don't know that there's any real clamoring for him to be kept at any costs ... by players OR coaches. I don't think they actively want him gone, but they're not gonna sackcloth over their pads if he's launched either.

It's too bad .... like the elusive great Cubs 3B (Aramis notwithstanding), it was sure nice to think the Bears finally had a QB that would land in the books as great rather than just pedestrian, someone marking time until the next contestant comes by.

Having said that, the list of Free Agent Quarterbacks would seem to want to make a person want to swallow a pistol ... http://overthecap.com/freeagents.php?Position=QB&Year=2014.

Of course unless Jay only wants a one year deal. Kyle Orton got a long term deal when he was a free agent. Someone will give Jay at least 3 years.

If you don't franchise or extend Jay, you should probably deal BMarsh. He'd be impossible to have on the team without Cutler around.

If the Bears decide to move on I think he'll be lucky to get $12 million a year. There just aren't many teams who will want him as the long term solution. They either have quarterbacks or will draft one this year. I always thought Philadelphia may be the logical destination but that is drying up quickly. Maybe Houston. Arizona seems to love getting new old quarterbacks.

I don't think he is worth more than $8 million a year but teams overpay for quarterbacks.

DT, you forgot Madlock.

And I'm with you on Cutler. I'm tired of the whole thing.

Can't count him ... he was balck so Wrigley wasn't gonna pay to keep him here ... only 3 years doesn't count imo.

What the hell is with the team doctor (Mark Bowen?) First, Cutler is out a minimum of four weeks. Then he miraculously heals in a little over half that time. Then when he's obviously hurting on the field, he tells Trestman he's fine and can do whatever Trestman needs him to do. Then he tells Trestman Cutler can't get hurt any worse by continuing to play, and now he's out next week.

Where did Bernstein get this nugget that Cutler asked Trestman "how am I looking out there?" Did ZZ give it to him, or did he lip-read? If it's true, I actually agree with Bernstein's analysis that it's clearly Cutler saying to get him out of there.

Perfect Laurence segment. While on the radio, Bowen points out injuries while watching game film.
