What used to be a really good, almost NFL gossip session, has turned into the hosts asking Florio what he thinks about Bears players?

WTF? I don't need Moose or florio telling me about Tillman or Briggs, I have seen these guy play every game, every snap of their careers and why the hosts keep asking these guys questions about the bears makes them look like complete idiots when the national guys makes foolish and inaccurate statements and they dont say anything.

This guys segment is about whats going on around the league. his website maintained the basis of what they do? Why dont his radio segments>

You make a very valid point.

"Mike, I was talking to Lance and Peanut last night, and we agreed that I talked to Lance and Peanut. Can you confirm that I hung out with Lance and Peanut?"

the guy cut his teeth with a great website, but his time on the radio is him giving opinions about players like he is a scout now?

I don't know about that. I mean, isn't Florio's website basically just about shitting on the players and talking about how great Bob Kraft and the Rooneys are?

Yes. Florio's a race-baiting trollbot who's never had an original thought in his life, unless you count exaggeration, speculation, and league propaganda as original thoughts. His website is the electronic equivalent of toilet paper. The worst thing about this segment is that it exists at all.

The song for it is a close second.

Charch segment is highest rated 30 minute segment on WSCR.

This could explain your ability to listen to leary.

Dont think this is Mitch's call!

If listener-ship drops...advertising goes with it. Enjoy the bubble, but we will ALL be gone by February when football season is over...and probably won't come back.

As long as the alternative is Carmen and Jurko, WSCR will be OK.

Today, they asked Florio about stress and its effect on NFL coaches. Florio responded, "I don't think the problem is stress. I think the problem is that coaches are so consumed by their jobs that they feel they don't have time to have a necessary medical procedure, which is what happened to John Fox."

So...stress, then?

Florio totally lost me last year, when he tried to minimize Tom Brady's importance to their Super Bowl teams.

It also explains people's obsession with Fantasy Football. FF ruins my football watching and enjoyment.
I hate the "should I start this guy or that guy" calls.........boring

Mike Florio represents an aspect of WSCR's being a part of the CBS Radio that has long confused me. Click on CBS, and everything seems to be linked together, TV and Radio. Just as it is with ABC and ESPN. But tune in to WSCR and odds are (recent appearances by Dan Marino and Phil Simms aside) that you're talking to someone from FOX, NBC (Florio) or even Yahoo! The World Wide Leader keeps it amongst family and in the house, but not 'SCR. Hell, Turd quotes freely from Deadspin while ignoring the CBS wires.

That's something we should give them credit for amid all the well-deserved criticism. They could easily limit themselves to the CBS family, but they instead go with Everyone Not ESPN, and while that gets mixed results, it's preferable to exclusively featuring CBS personalities. Imagine if everyone had to have Tom Tolbert on!

I think CBS recognizes that their sports radio properties -- WFAN, the Score, WIP, KNBR, et al -- do well because they're established local alternatives to their respective ESPN counterparts. While their bean-counting fuckheads love Corporate Synergy as much as any other bean-counting fuckhead, they still know where their bread is ultimately buttered, and that to be ESPN Radio But With CBS in every market, and all that that entails, would cost more than it would save.

CH, you make a great counterpoint. I suppose it is more cost/competitively advantageous to be the anti-WWL and connect with "anyone else."

And in the vein of having interviews with the Tom Tolbert's of the sports radio landscape, I'm curious (no pun intended) as to the last time someone called the afternoon poseurs for a "Chicago sports" opinion? I'm a long time listener (though more intermittent of late) and those interviews seem to elude my memory, does anyone else remember?
