How dare someone is held accountable for poor behavior, especially when it is supervised by a team of adults.

Then hold the adults accountable, DB them but teenagers act like assholes. This is not new information.

I'm confused. That was an obvious attempt to make fun of Illinois. Why are people questioning why Illinois fans would be mad?

Right. When he decided to do that, he should have known some people might take to Twitter to wish torn ACLs upon him. If he didn't, he's an idiot. He acted like a jerk-off. Deal with it.

Another prized Illini recruit, Quentin Snider, withdrew his verbal commitment to Illinois and signed with Louisville at the last minute.

Looks like John Groce is 2013 for Bruce Weber.

Enjoy another decade of basketball futility, Illini fans!

Cliff Alexander and Quentin Snider are my new heroes.

Illinois basketball will be fine without a couple of one year wonders. And that isn't sour grapes either. Groce can coach what he's got.

So Groce isn't a great recruiter but he can coach really well?

Groce really is Bruce Weber revisited.

Enjoy!

These are very strange posts from you. You seem like a guy who would be above gloating. Are you a fan of Kansas or Duke? Regardless, playing with hats like that is the act of a festering Caller Bob. He earned the designation and now he can live with it.

And I think Groce is a fine recruiter and a better coach. Illinois will be fine without Cliff Alexander. It would have been great to have him for a year but now he can go play for Self and probably get upset in the round of 16. And then I hope Kendrick Perkins takes him to the floor and leg whips his ass to welcome him to the Association.

TM is obviously ignorant of the strides Groce has made recruiting. Let him enjoy his ignorance.

Seriously. I'm surprised that he would gloat over that in particular. It seems quite odd. Do people really hate the Illini? And if so, why? It's not like it's an evil empire. I can understand being indifferent or even thinking that stupid hat trick was funny, but the degree of glee expressed by TM just seems very strange.

I've always assumed TM was denied admission to the UofI as a result of an inferior grasp of the English language on his admission essay that led to an obsession with the dictionary and a lifelong grudge against the finest University in the world.

I think it has a lot to do with Illini fans who act like U of I is on the same level as the Kanas, UNC, etc. I remember when Self went to Kansas I had friends who were appalled claiming it was a lateral move. Insanely idiotic.
For a program where the three greatest moments over the last 100 years are:
1. Losing in the 1989 Championship to Michigan
2. Losing the 2005 Championship to North Carolina
3. Heckling Jalen Rose with "Crack house" in 1993
there seems to be quite an overvalued belief in the greatness and tradition of the program.

That's not really right though. I'm not going to tell you that Illinois is on the same level as Kansas historically, but Illinois is a much more storied program than you're suggesting. Johnny Kerr, Dike Eddleman, Andy Phillip, the Whiz Kids, the early to mid 80s with Harper, Douglas, Winters, Altenberger, Norman, etc. It's not like the Illini are some kind of B grade program. Of course they aren't North Carolina or Indiana or Kentucky. Not many programs are.

Yes they are a B grade program. Pretty much every basketball team can create a list of players that makes it look like a storied program. The University of Illinois basketball program is essentially the same as the University of Oklahoma's basketball program. Similar number of all-time wins. Illinois has more final fours but Oklahoma has more national title games.

Now if you were taking offense at my top three list, obviously number three was a joke. I'm sure some big ten title or something would be number three.

Illinois is a historical top Big Ten program. When Self left, only Indiana and Purdue had more Championships and Illinois was in the midst of winning 4 titles in 5 years.

I understand why he left but Illinois is a good job.

People hate the Cubs, and they're as far as you can get from an evil empire.

And if the Illini are historically good but fall short of UNC/UK/Duke, then isn't that like the definition of a B-grade program? You could say they're an A and the rest are A+++, but that's just grade inflation, a big problem in college these days.

Illinois is a top basketball program. It's not the same as Oklahoma where basketball will always play second fiddle to football. There are a handful of elite programs- Kentucky, UCLA, Indiana, Duke, North Carolina, and Kansas. Illinois isn't one of those, but it's on the next level.

I never thought the Illini had a chance in that game. It was like watching NIU play football in a BCS bowl.
