The truth is Garry Meier might not even be working in radio if Dahl hadn't plucked him out of obscurity. However, he has some success post S and G. I don't know why he wouldn't have wanted to share the stage with Dahl as it only would highlight their relative success post breakup.

Is his wife some world class level of tail where he would tolerate all of the disasters she has brought on him?

Haven't listened to Dahl in a year or so, but before that he was always pretty sensitive around the Garry subject. Never ripped him or anything. Sooo, unless something has changed recently, this shows Garry to be a real A-hole.

I haven't listened to Dahl in years either, but in the years after they broke up, dahl tried many time sot reach out, always willing to meeting with Garry.

And I dont even remember what dahl said about Meiers wife, but I know I heard it live and it wasnt that big of d eal. 25 years later, should jhave gogtten over it

I think there's more to it than that. Frankly, Dahl's drinking and doping and showing up late and fucked up while Meier was always on time and ready to work. What Meier fails to realize is talent counts for something. Life really isn't just about showing up on time. I know it's frustrating for the office staff when a star sales guy shows up an hour late for the sales meeting all shitty and hungover. But when he goes out and closes that deal, we need to realize he's the reason we all have jobs. Meier never realized that Steve Dahl is the only reason he has a career at all.

Yeah, they rip him pretty regularly on Carolla, and I think that was loveline, so he must have gone out to Cali


He dressed as a breathalyzer for halloween with a sign that said BLOW ME. He apparently thought this was the funniest thing anyone has ever done


Also, he almost fired Carolla over a peanut butter stipend. Carolla wanted one Jar per week. Silver thought that was too much.

Dahl calling in late from the car was one of the things that made them a real show. Meier reaped the benefits of being the straight guy for years. And he did his fair share as well.

Great post. Ive always tended to give Garry the benefit of the doubt since all this went down and in the subsequent years of estrangement but that post pretty much sums it all up. He comes off as very small and petty with not mentioning Dahl at all. Get the fuck over it and yourself Meiers.

Total dick move by Meier. He didn't thank Roe Conn either for carrying his ass for 7 years. Steve being the drunken, cokehead fuck up is what made that show great. I've always given Meier credit for being the perfect counterbalance to Dahl, but damn he was always thin skinned when it came to his personal life. What a petty fucker.

her name is Cyndi Fircak and she was some kind of commercial real estate broker before she decided she had enough experience to fuck up several million dollar contracts of her husband. Her and Be Be should open an entertainment agency.

I seem to remember her as looking like your generic Gold Coast / Lincoln Park blonde back in the day. Forgot that Meier turned down 12 million for 10 years at WLS and fired Todd Musburger in the middle of those negotiations to hire her as his agent instead . Something tells me he hasn't made 10% of that amount since then. He really can't gtfo of his own way when it comes to securing a big money contract. Hope that her cooter has been worth it to him.

and then Musberger sued them and won for fees due on that contract since he negotiated it to the point that the signature was just a formality. That woman has cost him millions if not tens of millions of dollars while destroying two of the most popular radio shows in this city of the past 30 years. She's like a disease

If my wife had a business partner I didn't like but they were making the top dollar in the industry I would keep my mouth shut and take comfort in the check coming our way every two weeks.

Its about respect, and the sense that it should be something of a two-way street. Our guy, Danny Mac, walked away from WSCR because in large part because he didn't feel enough respect from the station, or his "friends." Despite the heat Dahl brought to their show, he crossed the line many years ago and Meier stood by his principles. Its easy to question not taking the big money but at what price does that come?

Dahl could have shown up except he probably would have to share the limelight and suffer the acknowledgement that his partner does radio from a blowtorch while Dahl flicks his bic from his basement.

That's not exactly right though. Yeah, Dahl could have shown up. But he wanted to accept as a team with Meier and he reached out to Garry who was having none of it. It wasn't Dahl and/or Meier being inducted. It was the Steve and Garry Show. Meier is just a douche.
