"I have sat through 10 days of testimony by felons and liars, sitting quietly through every minute, trying to respect the league and the process,” ... “This morning, after Bud Selig refused to come in and testify about his rationale for the unprecedented and totally baseless punishment he hit me with, the arbitrator selected by MLB and the Players Association refused to order Selig to come in and face me.

“The absurdity and injustice just became too much," Rodriguez's statement read. "I walked out and will not participate any further in this farce."

So, unless I'm missing something, this just seems like he's pulling a PR stunt on flimsy reasons just to get out of testifying himself so that he can (in his mind) perpetually fall back on the victim defense.

Between the boo-hoo statement and slamming his hand on the table, I'm kinda waiting for Palmeiro to tweet him to mock his overacting.

He is right and it is probably his best strategy. Good coaching.

What if no one shows up to watch the game? If no one shows up to watch a game did it really happen?

Agree, you want to being down the hammer or put something big together, you need to be the one in front of it!!!!

let Alex say what he has to say and then have your statement ready of "Alex, you and I have agreed to be represented by other parties, I am here to acknowledge your request of me being present, but your questions and statements should be directed via the appropriate channels"

Alex will call him some names, maybe challenge the 75 year old man to a duel and look like the ass he is.

Game over

Bud suspends him for life.

NEXT!

Ever since the suspension I've pretty much said the MLB is handling this like idiots but since everybody hates A-Rod they're getting a pass. Hopefully A-Rod outburst will at least get some people to see all the shady shit MLB did to get him, like impeding a Florida Department of Health investigation of Tony Bosch by buying possibly stolen documents intended for The State.

None of that changes the fact that he's a serial and unrepentant steroid user.

So what? Is he not entitled to due process?

A large part of this is that he has tried to mess with the process with some financial inducements to those who can provide testimony.

I dont think A Rod wants to go through the due process that he is entitled to, he has been the sole reason for multiple delays, including last weeks "flu like symptoms"

Actually he's not ... certainly not what you're implying.

This isn't a court of law, kids ... this is a collectively bargained arbitration hearing under the auspices of both MLB and the MLBPA, up to and including mutual agreement ahead of time on a specific arbiter ... any resmblance to a court preceeding is entirely coincidental and as such comparisons are not only clumsy, they're generally fallacious.

Let's try not to get duped by the Lance Armstrong obfucastion playbook again, shall we?

he is entitled to "the process" agreed upon, which is the arbitration, but he is the guy who isnt participating and demanding stuff like. He wants Bud there!

Tomorrow if the water is not served in clean glasses, he is also out of there!

I have been on record for many years about this horrible waste of a human being. He is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!

It is one thing to do steroids and lead your club to a title like David Ortiz. It is quite another to do steroids and then look like a little league ballplayer in the last playoff series with Detroit! Did anybody besides me watch this performance? It looked as if 1) the Detroit pitchers were all throwing in excess of one hundred (100) miles per hour; and 2) Alex "Not a True Yankee" Rodriquez was swinging a lead bat. I am ashamed to admit that many, many swear words were coming out of my mouth every time this punk watched another grooved strike sail by while he had a vacant stare on his face. The Detroit pitchers were practically laughing at him! I almost wish he was on narcotics, because then at least his performance could be explained. Of all the horrible, choking playoff performances this loser has "treated" us to over the years, he managed to save the very worst for last.

Even Reggie Jackson, who I cannot stand, managed to step it up a bit when it counted. This mental midget does not have any such ability. Why must he continue to torment me!?!

Let me put it to you this way: if you were to say "You have to pick between having A.J. "Hayseed" Burnett on your team or Alex "Not Even a Good Cheater" Rodriguez on your team" I WOULD PICK A.J. BURNETT!!! AND HE GAVE ME ULCERS AND CHRONIC HEADACHES!!

God is great, that is all I can say.

Agree, they got down in the mud with A rod on this one.

Regardless, A Rod goes down in history as a guy who belongs in the mythical wing of the hall.

I've always says he was. None of that changes the fact that this is a MLB witch hunt, and referencing your point about the arbitration, it's pretty clear MLB isn't even following the process.

I thiink Bud would be OK keeping this going for 5 years until A Rod is too old to break the record.

Since there's nothing that demands Selig make an appearance - and thus no rule or mandate is being ignored in that regard - I guess I'm at a loss exactly how he's being cheated.

I mean, sure, common sense would lean toward everyone saying their piece live and in person, but common sense doesn't apply here, only that which has been agreed upon by all involved, or at least their respective representatives (not unlike a republic I guess).

So, again, I'm not seeing where he's actually getting the shaft.

The documents they're using were almost definitely stolen from Biogenesis and they are going around the CBA since they are suspending him based on circumstantial evidence rather than drug testing results and he's getting far harsher treatment than any other player. A-Rod hasn't failed a MLB drug test since 2003.

I thought he failed one in 2006 for stimulants but that isn't the crux of your point so it doesn't matter ... I thought he had failed a test but I see that's not the case.

SO, his treatment could well be categorized as "unfair". Still, though, pissing and moaning about things being unfair along with taking your ball and going home (e.g., I won't testify either) removes any potential credibility gained by griping about Selig not testifying, your innocence, etc.

I mean, back in August he was all “I’m fighting for my life,” Rodriguez said in his Monday press conference. “If I don’t defend myself, no one will.” Well, all the sudden he's not going to defend himself, so then why the fuck should I give a damn?

As evidenced by the opinions here, he had no credibility anyway back then. Sure, a "You're out of order! The whole trial is out of order!" is a bit dramatic, but why not?

I agree that it's probably the only play he has left, but it's only because of the willing stupid (NOT you) who will cloyingly bitch and ball to noone in particular how their favorite player evar is such a victim blah blah blah thankfully, though, I think the quantity of such empty-headed asswipes is far fewer in number than A-Rod has perhaps convinced himself there are.

It was one thing when it was 'rant and exit stage left' .... but now to see that he then went to an obviously scheduled appearance on WFAN so that Mike Francesa could suck his cock on-air, that's when I start hoping a couple of deranged Asians give him some amateur acupuncture with AIDS needles.

But again, it's no more of a circus than MLB's "trial" and, previous to this, it's constant leaking of ill-gotten information against him. Somewhere there was an easy case to make against A-Rod and MLB blew it.

Is there a more despised living player? Maybe John Rocker, though I don't know if he's famous enough.
