Is this the Stone Enjoy By 11-12-13 you're referencing?

I had it on tap a few weeks ago and thought it was amazing in a perverse, almost antagonistic way

To this palate, the predominant flavor was an abrasive piney-ness that made me feel as though I was getting impaled in the mouth with a Christmas tree. I'm not quite sure I "enjoyed" this beer, but I have been craving it for some time now. One of the most unique libations I've consumed in quite some time.

The nose on those Enjoy By beers is phenomenal. Stone is a top notch brewery.

Picked up a six of Uncommon Stout by Bent River. Forgot how good this stuff is. Nice coffee flavored stout.

Negative. The current Enjoy By is 12.13.13. The only other one I've had was the 9.13.13 edition, which I didn't like. However, this December batch (with different hops than 9.13.13, cascade this time) blew me away. Like Chus said, the nose was simply amazing. At the Fox n Hound on Sunday, I just sat there taking whiffs of my Enjoy By. Give the current one a shot. $6.99 for a bomber is decent.

I overpaid for a bottle of Stone Punishment because I'm an idiot. I'll be sure to update this thread when I have it to let everyone know that it is in fact painful to drink and does not taste good.

Definitely interested to read what you think. Just got some White Rajah and Head Hunter. I've never had the former.

I love White Rajah but my problem with it is that it falls off faster than most IPAs. I brought some to a tasting once after it had spent a week or so in my fridge and I was almost embarrassed how off far off it was; it was almost a complete malt bomb at that point. Last time I was in Ohio though I was able to find it extremely fresh and it was so good that it became pretty much the only thing I drank while there.

Hmmm. I believe this stuff is pretty fresh. Zombie Dust falls off pretty damn quickly, too. The best thing about Heady Topper is it seemed to taste better a month and a half after my trip to Vermont.

I've greatly enjoyed the Stone brews I've had on tap. But their bottled product hasn't been kind to me. Have you had a similar experience?

Went to Titletown Brewing in Green Bay over the weekend. Had their Green 19 IPA, which was damn good. The brewer said they bought a warehouse across the street and will be bottling next year. Pick this one up, if it's sold in our area.

Half Acre's new IPA, Heyoka, comes out tomorrow! Sounds like it will be widely-distributed, so Binny's should have it.

Agreed. Stone is my favorite brewery. I was drinking RuinTen for most of the Summer. Now on to Double Bastard the last 2 weekends.

I have another Double and an Enjoy By in the fridge now for the coming holiday weekend.

Tried Stone IPA and didn't really like it. It was like eating a flower. I don't mind floral taste but this one needed to be deflowered some.

I prefer the Ruination IPA to their regular IPA but I thought the regular IPA was fine, not their best though.

I had the Stone Punishment last night. It wasn't as bad as I was anticipating and I was able to taste some of the Double Bastard and barrel aging in addition to the heat. I wouldn't call it a really good beer by any means, but it wasn't as undrinkable as I was expecting nor as hot as a lot of the marketing makes it sound. In comparison with other chile beers I've had lately, I'd say it wasn't nearly as good as Mango Magnifico but much better and more interesting than Habanero Sculpin.

Picked up a Ruination IPA today. Alpha Klaus was $12.99, and Ruination was $7.99, so I made my decision.

Have you had Ruinten? F'ing outstanding! Thought they couldn't get any better than Ruination. Also, Enjoy By {date} is pretty awesome!

Awesome. I have had that several times. My buddy the beer snob has gotten some via trade in the past. I love coffee beers, and this is one of the best.

Spiral, thanks for the Christmas gift suggestion. My brother and sis in law asked what kind of beer I wanted for Christmas and I'm gonna go with Bender, Coffee Bender, CynicAle and Hell....and maybe a Smoke bomber.

I like that Surly lineup.
