Both stations used the dead time to appease producers who have on air aspirations and they never find good talent from that experiment (See leary)

always just becomes a constant of allowing guys to fine tune their bad college skills from years of bad announcing. After 1 year of being on the air, 10 times and nobody has picked you up after we all know you have sent tapes to 200 places, guess what...you are a producer or start selling copiers!

or you can just hang around the station and wait for others to die or quit then get on the air. 9See leary)

But no development at all of any talent.

Oh, did you hear Rodewald this morning, too?

One could make the case that if you wanted to develop talent, you would be doing it in Omaha or Tallahassee, not the third largest market in the US. I would imagine the many different update readers don't have that as their top aspiration, so you have to throw them a bone every now and again to keep them happy.

Rodewald isnt terrible except he sounds like Grote and knows less about sports than my mom, his point of reference is usually 3 weeks ago.

He's ordinarily Just A Guy, but he had an egregious bout of Bernstein Radio this morning that hit on all the stuff we had been talking about: the exasperated sighs, the weird sense of superiority, the obsession with caring and not caring about the Bulls.

I actually don't mind this as much. It's the inability to plan a show beyond the first break, the lack of perspective and shortcomings most seem to have in engaging in actual conversations.

Unless you're talking fantasy, sci-fi or comic books.

Or hockey, for which I am unqualified to offer an opinion, nor interest.
