Not sure how well publicized this was but Irwin Mandel is leaving the Bulls this year. the guy will still be around to asnwer questions, but he sisnt going to be there to run every single trade scenario and see the trade implications on the cap. Any transition to new people, a new management team, etc takes time, creates bumps int he road and just nevers flows as it did with someone for 30 years.

Paxson will help, but his "skills" are as overrated as he was a player! At least he will know where the bathroom key is!

This absence of Irwin will mean Garr and Thibbs will need to work closer together, thats going to work well.

Mike Reinsdorf now might need to actually step in as a real owner and make some huge calls on the future of the organization, which is much different from what the plan was, which was put this organization on autopilot with Rose!

The focus of this organization was going to be to build a megaplex on the property 3-4 blocks east of the UC. Bars, Movie theaters, shopping, etc all connected to the UC. D Rose will going to be able to give them the cash flow that MJ did in order to do a short term finance deal and get this megaplex (with L stop connected to downtown?) done and owned with no debt in a short period of time.

That was the plan.

I think the plan now need to go back to Basketball.

Also, new League commish coming in. Once again, they know each other well, but still a new guy in another new seat.

Bulls need to start by dropping Rose's contract. They need to try to build around Luol & Noah.

The United Center shopping district never sounded that great to me. I like the idea of having more than oceans of parking around the arena, believe me, but in practice, when you're talking about a Bulls/Hawks game in the dead of winter with a 7 p.m. start, do you really want to do more than get in and get out at a reasonable hour with minimum outdoor time? Consider that both teams moved their start times from 7:30 to 7 (I know the Hawks did for this year, I think the Bulls did this six or seven years ago) so that families could get to the games on time and not make such late nights of it. And unlike Wrigleyville, it's pretty far removed from things, so how would such a thing sustain itself on offdays? Or do we just concede that Unitedcenterville is to be dormant in the summer like Wrigleyville is in the winter? At any rate, the Rose injury shouldn't preclude this sort of large-scale development if they really think it's worth doing. The Hawks would be in on it, too, and they're chugging along just fine.

I do want a Pink Line stop at Madison/Paulina, though. Just don't spend $25 million on it like the one at Cermak/Michigan.

Cermak/State is where the Greenline station will be. There's no way a station will cost too much less than that. They've set a precedent, & will have to stay in that ballpark, or look like they've overspent on the Greenline.
