Nazr is just on a minimum deal right? His contract doesn't really mean anything against the cap whether they re-sign him, or bring in some other veteran at the minimum.

It counts but they can go over the cap to sign guys like him. They just have to sign the important people first.

I think the European dude will get a rookie contract, since the Bulls have has rights via picking him in the draft a couple years ago.

Thibs for J Kidd + 33 BILLION RUBLES + Bob Kraft's Super Bowl Ring + Edward Snowden.

Dump Boozer and Deng for whatever.

Amnesty DRose.

JKidd gets to learn how to be a head coach in the NBA on a now-lottery team while Thibs reunities with Pierce and KG.

They mentioned this during tranny, asking about trading coaches. Happens all the time. Celtics traded Doc Rivers to the Clips for a 1st round draft pick. Brooklyn probably doesn't have many draft picks left to trade after giving em up to Boston for KG and Pierce. They might have something down the line a few years, when the geriatric Nets should be bad.

and the analogy between Doc Rivers going to a contender and leaving the rookie Brad Stevens to coach the rebuilding Celtics matches up with Thibs going to should-be-a-contender Brooklyn and Kidd getting exiled to needs-to-tank-for-the-draft Chicago.

Brooklyn is a false contender. Thibs should go to somewhere like OKC if they can't get it done this year.

Isn't Thibs worth more than a 30th pick in the first round? That's a pick that probably won't be in the league long. No thanks!

I assume Thibs, like Rivers, would only go to a team that has a good shot at winning it all.

I'm not so sure of that. Thibs is a basketball junkie who would probably love building a contender and taking them all the way. I know he probably wouldn't want to go somewhere that is a mess, but I don't think he's a guy who would only have a list of 2-3 teams.

Brooklyn doesn't have a 1st or 2nd round pick til 2018, when they have a 2nd rounder:

http://www1.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed

only way to get a good draft pick would be to bring in a 3rd team--or wait til 2019.

Nets should make the playoffs and be a tough out for whomever, but they'd have a better shot with a non-rookie head coach.

I thought the reason mirotic isn't here now is cap? That he won't get rookie deal and can't fit now? He can make a shit load more staying in Europe.

There's the rub, how do you get a new number 1 to build around (Parker/Wiggins/Randle) when your coach is hell-bent on WINT.

Maybe see if Thibs would take a sabbatical for the rest of the season.

Get rid of Noah,Deng.Rose,Boozer for a 1st rounder pick.....then with what they have is tank and get a lottery pick and build from there.Just being stagnant is like fucking your ex ol'lady it gets you NOWHERE!

How do you do all of that with a salary cap? Who is going to give you a 1st round pick for Boozer?

The Salary Cap in the NBA really makes it hard to propose any trade because of the contract complications. It would be nice if they could move Deng or Noah for a couple of complimentery players who can maybe score 14-22 points a night.

I generally wouldn't call a guy who can score 22 points a night a complimentary player. But I would love to get a first round pick for Deng and get expiring contracts in return. I would love to get a draft pick for Boozer and expiring contracts. I wouldn't trade Noah unless you floored me.

If you can find a couple teams with $30M in cap space or $30M in expiring contracts you may be able to get it done. Unfortunately those 1st round picks would be worthless because those teams would all be playoff teams.

How do you fix the problem.....or for 3 or 4 years we are in Basketball hell....how did the Heat do it?

The Bulls won't be in basketball hell. In fact they will be in a great position this summer to really improve the team.

Bulls this offseason:

At least $25M in cap space
Possibly a lottery pick (if they keep playing like this)
Boozer's huge salary off the books
Deng off the books
Maybe a Bobcats lottery pick
Mirotic will be here

The Bulls will still have proven core players and possibly Rose on the team and will be able to compete immediately for a title.

It isn't. The Bulls weren't going to bring back Deng or Boozer anyway so they could have $25M in cap space. This has pretty much been well known for quite some time. You should follow the Bulls more.

your words
Things to consider:

1.You can't amnesty Rose because his contract is under the new CBA
2. Boozer is going to get amnestied so it would be foolish to take back bad contracts in a trade for him and you won't get a #1
3. You can trade Deng but it would have to be for expiring contracts and a #1 or it would be foolish. That's going to be tough.
4. Why would you trade Noah? He's still young enough to help you and he has a good contract.
5. You would have to take back crap to trade Taj and that would be stupid
6. The Bulls will have about $30M in cap space next summer
7. Mirotic will be here next season
8. Bulls won't be bad enough to miss the playoffs
