So how they handling it? Drinky apologize? Did he admit that there was no legit source if one at all? Kidding. I know he won't.

But is it a gloating type of thing and a lot of "Fuck Yous" to Cutler?

I heard him yesterday say he never reported that Cutler could be out for the season, it was only a possibility on the progress of his ankle. He also mentioned the comments made by the Bears (Trestman, perhaps Cutler as well, don't recall) , in this case, they were all over the map in diagnosing the injury.

I missed this. They replayed a clip on "S&W" where they asked Cutler if he will definitely play this year. Cutler's response was "Without a doubt". And he said it without hesitation. Like I said, he has no reason to lie. He could have just said "We'll see".

So there is absolutely no truth to drinky's report that somebody with the Bears thought he'd have surgery when drinky claims to have gotten that info. Cuz drink said he got it on Sunday. And on Monday Jay said there is no doubt he'd play this year. Think about that? It just doesn't add up.

I think Jay was worried about surgery last week. Things changed. It healed properly. Drink took the leap based on Cutler's comments last week. No source. Just took a shot thinking he had a chance to nail something. This can't be disputed.

Here it comes!!!! This misdirection on "Drinky vs. Cutler". B&B gonna defend their dumb ass!!! Basically defending themselves cuz they taught the drink how to do this shit.

If you're hearing it, you know what I'm talking about. Doc said this happened during tranny, too.

The Bears doctors already caved to Tresty and Cutler so doing so again doesn't make Matty wrong.

Yes, Drinky's guess could end up being true.

I dont think that's the issue. To me, its about Drinky listening to ESPN and spinning it into a non existent source

Exactly. The veracity of drinky's speculation is not the issue. Rather, the problem is that he is presenting his speculation as solid information provided by an inside source. Beardown is correct that drinky has absolutely no history of conveying reliable inside information about the Bears or any other professional sports team. Thus, there is no reason to believe he is doing so here, especially since he's not a beat reporter who is regularly working around the team and might be in position to cultivate sources.

On another note, it's amazing to me that so many posters around here reflexively rally around the hosts to defend them even when they're pretty clearly manufacturing a bunch of poppycock. It's almost as though people have some deep psychic investment in believing that their sports talk show hosts are good guys who are presenting good information to their listeners. This hasn't been true in a long time, if it ever was.

I'm talking about this thread and the board's history of harboring B&B apologists.

I dont know about B&B apologists. I am still a fan of the show and probably always will be. Doesnt mean I dont think that some of their stuff is bullshit. When they are being stupid and silly and not trying to be 'serious news reporters' the show is better than anything else on the radio by far.

Beardown wins this thread. I thought all of the B&B apologists jumped to the new board. But the more things change the more they stay the same I suppose.

Yeah I think they all left to play grab ass with each other while Keeping Score indexed their personal details.

Just looking at drinky's twitter feed, as expected, he's giving all of his critics a "Fuck You" about his false report. Somebody said "You made the station look bad." Drinky's response was "Don't care".

Hard to make the station that gives Laurence Holmes 4 hours of the daypart look any worse I suppose

I just think drinky's got quite the attitude for somebody still trying to make it. His bitchy, crabby, pissy, idiotic, chip-on-his-shoulder way about him can only work at the Score under B&B's protection and probably keeps him as a producer at that place.

Now he's decided to make these bullshit reports a part of his thing.

What are the chances that Boers, Bernstein, Holmes and Spegial all defended Drinky's report as accurate and blamed the Bears for providing false information? Holmes was going all tough guy the other day about how the station is one team and if one person is attacked, everyone is....he sounds pathetic, but even moreso is the over the top defense of this report.

You'd expect that. Though Spieg's called out Bernstein's Giraridi report. Spiegel probably knows drink had this one wrong, too. Maybe just biting his tongue cuz it would make the station look bad if he said so. Gotta have a united front on this one. Maybe cuz it's lowly drink as opposed to Bernstein where it's easier to attack Bernstein cuz he's a made man. Spiegel knows drinky is a nothing at the station, doesn't want to ride him on this one.

No doubt in my mind most people at the Score truly believe that drinky was full of shit. None of them will say it publicly. But they all know.

Does Drink have to go through Mitch before he's allowed to put this on the air? Can all of the producers at the Score do this? I understand letting your reporters do this without checking. But a station like the Score shouldn't allow producers to do this. I don't think any radio station besides the Score works like this. Cuz Mitch doesn't give a shit and lets his producers run wild. Wrong way to operate. Score producers are idiots.

I got another example of Score producer idiocy. Tonight, Finfer the Frog and the Shepowski guy, if that's the spelling and I don't give a fuck enough about him to look it up, actually spent an entire segment reading box scores of past Bears-Lions Thanksgiving games. Reading stats and scores. That was a whole segment. Brain dead radio. Then, Finfer brought up what Josh Sitton said about the Lions and their coaches. Sitton called Schwartz a "dick" but since you can't say that on the radio Frogman substituted Richard. He thought it was so fucking funny to refer to someone as a Richard on radio instead of a dick. Jesus fucking Christ. Mac, you need to get these guys laid. Their brains are clouded. I wouldn't subject Gitmo prisoners to this mental torture.

Beardown: So what? He's still recovering from his injury. His injury was obviously never in dispute. Drinky's report was a leap. Still no season ending surgery. Let's say there is, which I doubt, it was still a leap. Drinky is still dumb and now he's spewing anti Jewish and racial slurs.

Drinky: Fuck you!!!! Woooo hooooo!!!!!

Beardown: That's exactly the response I expected from you, drinky. That's the response of an idiot.

Kirkwood:  You're right, Beardown. He is an idiot.

Beardown: It's OK. I forgive you. Because that's what Jesus would do.

Bernstein: Oy.

Beardown: Threw that in just for you, Dan.

Drinky didn't "make a case" for anything. He made something up and puked it up on the radio, his deep journalistic practices weren't rooted in him having super secret sources or going through Cutler's garbage and staking his house 24 hours a day.

Why would cutler be practicing at all if he was done for the year and was having surgery as idiot Abbattacola thinks?

Didn't drinky say they were considering surgery and he may be done for the year?

The Bears have been idiots through this whole thing. Jay Cutler is supposedly "Week To Week" and was since the injury happened and yet he'll miss his 4th straight game and they know on Thursday that he can't possibly be playing on Monday night.

Trestman said "We'll see where he is next week" meaning they can't even say he will play for the game after Monday night!
