You do realize the Bulls get the $25M to spend this summer by amnestying Boozer and not resigning Deng? That's been the plan all along.

It should be able to get you at least 1 star player and a couple of good players. More than enough to compete for a championship next season

Noah
Taj
Bulter
1 to 2 first round picks
Star Player
2 Good players
Mirotic
Roster fillers

Derrick Rose

This team can still win without Rose. There is no need for a fire sale and you're only going to get bad players and late 1st round picks.

Evidently GarPax don't think like you! Thank God

Being able to give my opinion must have really gotten under your skin.

"We're not going to make rash decisions. We feel we have a bright future ahead and we're positioned well. We have good players in their 20s, Derrick is going to come back, we're positioned well with draft picks into the future and we have some level of flexibility which we haven't had under this new CBA."

Summer of 2015. Love and Aldrige come available. That's when a splash will be made.

The tragic irony of this is that both become game-changers only when paired with an equal or superior teammate like Rose.

In any case, the Bulls have an embarrassing record when it comes to attracting top-tier free agents, so I think any sort of pessimism is warranted when it comes to the class of 2015.

Exactly what I was thinking.

I would love to have Love or Aldridge. But by themselves they are not enough. They both would benefit greatly from playing with a healthy Rose.

With that said, I think the Bulls are doing the right things. The whole concept of "blowing" things up just does not work right now.

Just pray and hope that Rose is not 2013 Penny.

Let me know when the Bulls land that stud free agent.

I hope Pax gives thanks that he works for Reinsdorf.

It seems there was a sort of 'soft' reset in order anyway, irrespective of Rose's health. I assume Deng was already on the way out, and the same with Boozer via the amnesty clause. What I think is an intriguing option, and have so since the end of last year, is dealing Noah. I understand how valuable he is to what the Bulls do, but he's never going to have as much value as he does now (relatively young, fresh off a All Defensive Team accolade), and I think it's worth exploring what he can yield in a trade. Depending on what he can bring you in a trade, I think it's worth dealing an energetic but ultimately limited player for a guy who can do more moving forward.
