I see 2005 World's Champion Gm Kenny Williams came out of hiding to take a little credit for the Cuban guy.

Is that accurate? Or was he always around? I feel like he was not in the news at all last year

He was the one who went to the workouts.

True. Said he wanted to give the batting practice a standing ovation

He was in the news, just not in the sports columns. The guy took every chance he could to give interviews about what a great husband he is for sticking with his new wife through cancer. I saw that in at least three features

I hope to not see Donnie Veal out there next year.

In 12 he was good, I agree. He regressed last year and had a WHIP at 1.5 and his walks nearly doubled.

I think Veal deserves a chance to win the 2nd lefty job in Spring Training. If he doesn't show he can consistently throw the ball over the plate they can send him to the minors and use him as bullpen depth. You can never have enough lefties.

Heard in Surprise over the weekend

White Sox will be in on Saltalamachia and the Sox scouts were focused on Marcus Strohman all 5'9" (?) of him 2 Ks in 1 IP and Aaron Sanchez who started and looked sharp during the FallStars game..maybe they could be pieces in the possible Beckham to the Jays deal that has been buzzing...

Wondering what buzz Keyser heard in Jupiter?

First reaction to Sox maybe being in on Salty: after watching the World Series, why? But then I remembered the catchers last year.

With the deadline for qualifying offers approaching, the Chicago White Sox will not extend deals to free agents Paul Konerko and Gavin Floyd.

Salty is a veteran catcher entering his prime at 28.

I think he will be way overvalued. He's basically a solid everyday catcher but nothing eye popping on either offense or defense.

I'd like to see them give Phegley another shot but they have to help protect him by signing a veteran left handed hitting backup. I'm not sure AJ will accept a job share/backup role but if he would I'd be all for bringing him back.

I've seen more than enough. I wouldn't be averse to him as the everyday catcher if the team didn't have offensive voids at second, short, and third.

And DH, most of the time.

White Sox GM Rick Hahn says that the intensity of trade talks has picked up in the past few days, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com (Twitter links). "We well could have something in the next day or it could take through Orlando (Dec. 9-12) when the logjam sort of breaks,” Hahn said. More out of the AL Central..

Hahn says he doesn't have new info on Paul Konerko, but his situation has not hamstrung their offseason plans, tweets Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com. "I don’t think Paulie wants to play just to be on the bench or a farewell tour. That’s not him..He would want to play only if he felt he had something left in the tank and something to add to a club," Hahn said, according to Merkin

There's only one guy in Chicago that gives a shit about where Paulie goes. Unfortunately, he's the only one that matters....

Shit, it's good to be a professional athlete. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get a single MLB AB next year factoring in the rehabbing from his injury and generally bad play

He'll be the backup catcher. All the pitchers love him.

He had major surgery on his throwing shoulder in September. He may not even be available to back up.

There's a rumor that the Sox are going to get Jose Lobaton from the Rays. He's a switch hitter and could serve as a platoon partner for Phegley.

....then why sign Flowers? I guarantee he still probably would have been out there in early February.

Probably but $950k isn't a lot to pay for some catching depth.
