Probably not sold on Phegley just insurance. I think that still is the non tender rule. I expect they have a new catcher of some sort to be the starter.

Damn, that's cheap. It's also justification for eating a lot of Dunn money. I'd guess he's as good as gone now. And they still need a left-handed stick.

Maybe when he gets a hit off a Cub pitcher they can stop the game, bring out his kids, and have him retire right there on the field.

That's a 2016 promotion.

At least Konerko was a good player for them for more than one game.

Hey man, if Viciedo had some discipline he could have stopped all that

I guess you missed Game 8 of the 2004 Conference championship where he dominated the Hornets all series long

Didn't Wood win game 5 against the Atlanta Braves in 2003? That stands as the biggest Cubs deciding game win in over 100 years.

In all seriousness, Id say Wood was an above average starting pitcher for about 5 years (out of his first 7) and a decent reliever. Just never reached potential or his tools were overrated.

Sounds like a Quarterback I know actually....

The Braves game put them in the 2003 NCLS. Game 7 didn't do shit and neither did Wood (pitching wise)

EDIT:

Gm 1: CHC (4-2), Gm 2: ATL (5-3), Gm 3: CHC (3-1), Gm 4: ATL (6-4), Gm 5: CHC (5-1),

I'd agree.

I just find it interesting that he seems to be going down as one of the most recognizable Cubs of the last 40 years off the strength of two games.

I think you have some facts mixed up Jimmy.

It was 2002 and it was Game 9

He coincided with the most competitive 10 year run the team ever had and also came in just as Sammy turned Wrigleyville up to 11.

Its all timing. But also, his 20 K game and the Braves series are some of the most memorable games in The 30 years Ive watched the Cubs. Actually Game 5 against the Braves was probably my favorite ever.

RPB,
I think you are confusing Cub seasons with Bocci Ball tournaments.

Now that the White Sox have signed Jose Dariel Abreu and re-signed Paul Konerko, there's less playing time available for Adam Dunn, writes CSNChicago.com's Dan Hayes. It appears Konerko and Dunn will platoon, with Konerko starting at designated hitter against lefties. Dunn hit .226/.327/.459 against righties last year, compared to .197/.296/.385 against lefties.

Surely they are not going to keep Dunn around to platoon at DH?

The White Sox have agreed to terms with RHP Ronald Belisario on a 1yr/$3M contract.

Looks like Jesse Crain's replacement. He was non-tendered by the Dodgers so the Sox control his rights thru 2016.

Funny that Mark Gonzalez was the first to report the signing as he's currently the beat writer for the Cubs.

I'd rather they signed Jesse Crain.

White Sox showing interest in Chase Headley.

Obviously depends on what they give up. Headley is a bit overrated based off his one good season and the Pads are still asking for the moon. Headley does some nice things as he's pretty good defensively, he gets on base at a decent clip and he's a switch hitter. But outside that one year he hasn't hit for much power and he strikes out a ton. Headly who turns 30 next May is a free agent after the season so they would probably have to sign him to an extension which is another hurdle to clear.

That would absolutely destroy UMN
