Why doesn't Stan share some blame?

For me, it's because the line changes are all Q. Clearly he does not like younger players and quickly gives them the hook. I don't think there is a good relationship between Q and Bowman. CH will have to weigh in.

Bowman's the one who re-signed Handzus, Carcillo, Scott etc. He's the GM. I'm sure Q has some input but Stan picks the players.

Not really a big deal, Pirri has regressed in his short time here. Whether that's on Q making him play scared or not, I don't know. Perhaps some people just can't handle that pressure? Look at Ben Smith, he seems to be responding well, he's playing great.

Also, Handzus looked good in his last game and I kind of see why Q is more comfortable with him. He's way better in the defensive zone and just smarter with the puck all around. Pirri looks lost half the time.

You need to play defensive hockey in today's game to win the Cup, Pirri has shown he's not very capable of doing this so far. Morin might end up being the better prospect after all. Perhaps Pirri is just an AHL hero.

I'd rather have Pirri stay and continue taking him lumps at the 2C and see if this guy can get comfortable and show consistent progression in the D zone and with the puck but it's obvious Q doesn't have the patience for it.

I disagree with the move but it's not a big deal to me today like it would of been a couple weeks ago.

So does this mean Bickell is close to returning?



Just echoing what everyone else has said already, this is a pretty weak move by Q (yes I blame Q as well since he's the one not playing Pirri, not Stan). I guess if you're not going to play Pirri on line 2 there isn't really a place for him with Bickell returning. Not sure why Q has such a love affair with Handzus. Is it all because of faceoffs?

There's definitely tension between Quenneville and the Bowmans, but I feel that you'd be hard-pressed to find coach/GM pairings that don't have tension inherent to the power struggle of short-term versus long-term, or using the players versus supplying the players. Barry Trotz and David Poile, maybe, but what the fuck have they ever achieved?

I read the DH beat report each day. It is easy to read between the lines in the quotes. Q is always backhanding young players, and it usually revolves D play. But they have to learn somehow. The players often comment about getting comfortable with line mates as the reason for recent success. But then Q blows up the lines.

In a salary cap world, teams will need to balance veterans against developing young players. If Pirri costs the Hawks a game now for the purpose of experience, I think we can afford it. The Hawks will need to have their young guys grow into veteran roles. The shuffling between the Hawks and Ice Hogs is silly. Their just swapping one group of young guys for another, Nordstrom's back up I believe. Hope he doesn't have a bad shift....

I banged the drum louder than anyone for Pirri to get a shot. He got a few weeks here, which is a long time for a young player with Q at the helm.

He sucked hot ass the last 2 weeks here and was a liability during the win streak, not a reason for it.

If you don't understand why he was sent down, then it's because you're letting what you want cloud your judgement.

We want him to stay up and develop because we don't have many fucks to give about the regular season. Q doesn't feel the same way. Just a difference of opinion that doesn't really effect the team either way.

He'll be back anyways once Handzus hurts himself again.

It feels overly critical to continually harp on Q, but once a week he does something that makes no sense. Zeus even being on this team right now is pointless, much less 2C. Q's consistent though in all his years here, he trusts his veterans. Sometimes to a fault. This is one of those times for sure.

Yeah, I've gotten kind of turned off by The Committed Indian lately because it just seems like every single write-up is about what an idiot Q is and how terrible the shootout is. Considering that Q has coached the team to three third rounds and two championships and the team has done so largely by winning a shit-ton of shootouts, it begins to take on the makings of an alternate reality.

That said, this was an odd move, but then again, Nordstrom is as much a center as Pirri, and Q clearly liked him enough to have him make the team out of camp over Pirri, so we'll see.

I don't think his defense is that bad and his offensive production outweights his defensive shortcomings. He might be a good fit on the 2nd line.

You can say all you want that Pirri was good enough defensively and with the puck but watch how the other Centers on this team do it and you'll realize it's not good enough to stay on Q's Chicago Blackhawks.

I assumed Handzus was good to go again though. Pretty much no logic in sending him down when Handzus and Shaw are hurt. If they're healthy, I totally get it.

I don't really expect anybody to know...where is he? I'm at the wolves/ice hogs game but don't see him out there. Can't google or mr Spaulding will give me the evil eye for being on the phone.
