Cro is giving up way too many goals. I realize that he will never be a top 5 Goalie in the NHL, but I would be happy if he just showed some improvement.

He should won a Conn Smythe last year and he hasn't show improvement?

Chicago fans. I tell ya.

He just can't make any big saves. I know Pat Foley tries to tell all us Hawks fans that the saves he makes where the other team shoots it right into his chest or glove are big saves, but they aren't. Everything that's been getting deflected this year that goes on net seems to go in on him. He looks slow, no reflexes.

Let's see what Raanta has. I'm not saying as a starter, that's just silly. I mean lets give him a couple games in a row here and see if we can end up platooning these guys like we did with Emery and Crawford last year.

Crawford looks tired, I think he has the worst Stanley Cup hangover.

We should trade him for Craig Anderson. Anderson will feel recharged coming back home and Cro can be closer to Montreal. I should be a GM.

Blues won, Avs lost. The Oilers had an eight-goal game against a team that wasn't the Hawks, so that's nice.

 Exactly right!

My god man, the team is one of the best in the league right now. They lost a tough one on the road last night. Crawford gave up a couple goals he shouldn't have. It happens. This team is fine!

Crawford would be one of the best goalies in the league as long as teams would promise to stop shooting high glove side on him.

Seriously, I would love to see stats on where the goals go in on him, I would bet that over 50% of the goals scored are over his glove.

Where would that rank relative to the rest of the league's goalies? It seems easier to justify a weakness glove-side-high at the NHL level than, say, stick-side-low.

I wouldn't agree with that. When a goalie is constantly giving up goals to the glove side high that means he is down early on every shot which is a huge flaw in his playing style. It also shows a lack of confidence in his ability to cover the bottom of the net which is why he can't stop himself from cheating down low on every shot.

A goalie who is weak stick side low usually means he is slow and lacks reflexes and most likely wouldn't be playing in the NHL anyway.

Maybe if Crawford played more straight up and didn't cheat down low we'd see that he was actually quite weak on low shots which would indicate that's he's been trying to hide a lack of athletic ability this entire time?

Either way, from all the hockey I've watched I can't remember seeing a goalie who was so easy to beat in a certain spot as Crawford is. Even bums like Huet didn't have a glaring hole in one specific spot.

Hiding athleticism sounds quite likely for Crawford. If you think about it, his greatest strength is simply that he is big and well-padded. You especially see it when Raanta is in instead and suddenly there's just a whole lot more net to shoot at. Of course, he compensates with decent mobility. Everyone's still so much bigger these days, though. Would young fans ever believe Darren Pang was a goalie in this league?

Right, hence my point that you're more likely to see guys who are weak glove-side-high at the NHL level than a weakness which would all but preclude being there.

yep, and yet have you ever seen a goalie who got beat more often high glove side than Crawford? I haven't.
