They already decided Davis would play over Aoki? Why would they do that? Why not keep both and let them battle it out? Aoki only makes $1.9M so it's not like they can't afford to keep both and see what happens. Just seems a little odd to me.

Yes, I am assuming they saw enough from Davis in his time last year while Braun was out. But, yes to answer your question that decision had been made. Also, this will move Braun to Right Field as Davis is only a Left Fielder.

Interesting. I'd like Aoki for the Sox. He's a good player.

I was reading up on some college baseball stuff last night. It's right around the corner my friend.

Talks broke down this morning. Best move Seattle has made in a long time and I'm sure it wasn't their decision

Theo & Fanboy! Couldn't get it done for 6 years $80 mil! Another failure in the plan!

Holy smokes. I never thought Cano would leave the Yankees. Seattle has a very young team and had money to burn. Well they just burned a whole bunch of it. 3rd highest contact in major league history.

I'm starting the Beckham to the Yankees rumor.

Why would you want the Sox to move Beckham? You aren't going to get much for him, and while he's been a disappointment with the bat, the Sox have so many other problems that you can easily deal with Beckham hitting ~.240-.250 if he's still playing solid defense. CF, SS, LF, 3B, and the bullpen are all more pressing issues than 2nd base.

Wow thats just bad money. Wonder what Cano's home / road splits are . Going from that bandbox in NY to the spacious reaches of Seattle going to kill him. .280 22HR 80 RBI my predictions for him this year.

Forget this upcoming season, what is his production going to be when he is 39, 40, and 41 when he's still making $24mil a year?

Try not to let the door hit you on the way out, Robinson Cano. You are on the decline, and I have grown tired of you.

Plus, anybody that would leave the undisputed most famous franchise in history for the Seattle Mariners is prima facie mentally imbalanced. The last time I checked, the Seattle Mariners have won as many World Series titles as I have, which is zero (0). I predict that this move will be a bust for the hapless Seattle Mariners, kings..... of not winning World Series, that is - ha ha ha!

How would you have felt if the Yankees re-signed him for the same amount?

Pretty good, I guess - ha ha ha!

It is very much like Godfather II. Michael, of course, loved Fredo because they were brothers. However, when Fredo took sides against the family, he was cast out by Michael and ultimately assassinated on Lake Tahoe.

Robinson Cano is Fredo Corleone. I will cast him out but I will not, however, assassinate him.

He will be a Yankee again towards the end of that contract with the Mariners footing 2/3 of the salary

For a 30 year old 2nd baseman it is beyond done. He'll give them 2 to 3 good years before he has a sharp decline. That's what historically happens to them.

He's juicing, so might buy him a couple more years.
