10am tomorrow.

Ping pong balls, bewildered former soccer stars staring slack-jawed into cameras, obligatory gushing over the Brazilian culture, hushing, murmuring, and the walking corpse of Sepp Blatter.

Your fate could be sealed before nary a match is played.

And to think, FIFA won't be any less corrupt when Platini takes over.

Bad news for USA.

Good news for my Netherlands squad. If nothing else they get to kick Spain around again. Literally, not on the scoreboard.

It's not that bad of a draw. Germany is the only team in the group that I would say is definitively better than the USA. Portugal hasn't impressed with their results the last few years. Ghana is weak defensively and inexperienced. It's doable but unlikely.

We beat Germany's B team in a friendly recently, we've solved them.

so, would you have rather they gotten an easy group to draw so they could just be ousted by any one of these three teams in the round of 16? if anything, this would build character if the US did make it out of the group stage...which they won't. but to want an easy draw for the group stage just so they can get to a round they don't belong in the first place is lame. we're supposed to have one of the elite squads in the world. it's not like we're wales or iceland, to be happy to just qualify (which i realize they didn't). these are the challenges the US should face in the world cup if they want to be taken seriously in the world of association football.

Well even "elite" nations prefer to avoid the Group of Death. In 2002 when we should have made the semis our group was Korea Poland and Portugal. Easy, but we still struggled to get out, but once we did we were Germany's equal. Yes I'm still mad at Torsten Frings or whatever that guy's name was.

we struggled to get out of the group stage last time too. i get that the group of death thing is like...the last thing anybody wants. and there's a part of me that thinks FIFA has a hard on for the US and did it on purpose because this is the 2nd time in 10 years we've been put in the group of death.

but, we're supposed to be able to compete with these teams (allegedly)...and if we do lose, it's expected. if we can draw or win any of these games, it'll at least make us look good i guess.
