I read a story somewhere today that suggests that Winston may be charged before the Heismann ballots are due on December 9th. If ever there was a year when a player from a lesser conference & program can win the Heismannn it is this year. A couple of weeks ago I didn't think there was a chance in Hell that Jordan Lynch could win the Heismann, let alone even be invited to NY...but he is climbing the charts with a bullet & he now has a legitimate chance.

It appears that Lynch will be invited to NY, so I must admit that I was wrong about him getting an invite.

Being the first guy to shake Winston's hand is a consolation prize for gagging in the two biggest games of his career, but I digress.

Jordan Lynch got invited to NY, so I must admit, it's still a bad idea to use gambling odds on things that aren't really a sporting event. Especially when the odds being cited don't directly pertain to the question at hand.

Why? He isn't going to win, and the guy with the shortest odds is going to win. So, the odds did in fact tell the story.

There are six guys that were invited. I assumed it would be three or four, like it almost always is, when I said what I did.

I wasn't the guy who eliminated guys after their team lost, and I never referred to Lynch as an asshole. Spare us the hyperbole.

I read in this very thread that others had been eliminated two weeks ago after gagging. Nick Saban had one of his worst coached games, and a missed FG was returned 109 yards for a score to beat Bama. McCarron was 17/29, 277 yds, 3 td, 0 int. He was dismissed in this very thread, after that performance. Andre Williams got hurt. I'm not sure how that is gagging.

Lynch wasn't very good against BG. You might even say he gagged. He padded his stats on the final drive, but it was a very pedestrian performance. Were the interceptions that he threw the fault of the defense?

Yes. He should make that his sig. Lynch being one of five guys to shake Winston's hand is a total win for NIU nation. Yeah, that would really show me.

I was thinking Spany should maybe go with this one.

I'd rather be called an asshole then a choker. So hyperbole is in the eye of the beholder.

And when you have one legit wide receiver and employ a run based offense, anyone who understands football beyond pure stats can see that having a porous defense that puts you down three scores by half is problematic.

Just glad to see you save some of this for NIU. Chas needs a few days off from it.

I only used the word 'gagged', because it was used to describe what the other Heisman hopefuls did two weeks ago. Take it up with Spanky.

So, last week, they were a great team deserving of a BCS game, now it's just poor Jordan Lynch with no weapons?

I never tried to make it about stats. We had people here discounting guys because their team lost. I'm just applying the same logic to NIU.

I watched the entire game. It wasn't just his stats that didn't look good. He had his worst game of the year, on the biggest stage. A Heisman candidate shouldn't get cornholed by Bowling Green.

Wow. First your Christianity is under attack, now NIU? We can have discussions with differing ideas, without the persecution complex.

You are far more active than I am in the politics sections, so you should know that I backed off of Chas a while ago. You need to update your board memes.

NIU was deserving of a BCS game if they won out. Those are the rules set up by FBS.

And I watched half the game and was surprised that NIU made it that far after seeing the lack of offensive weapons outside of one WR and Lynch.

And teams can absolutely build a game plan to shut down a player like Lynch. It happens all of the time.

As for the Christianity thing, i'm not even sure where that came from or how it came up or applies here. I'm not ashamed of who I am. Leave the false persecution complexes to BMc. That is his meme.

Nobody disputed that. I said several times that I would rather see them play, than Notre Dame or Oklahoma.

Can you name any of Bowling Green's receivers? Me either. It didn't seem to bother Harrison.

Not to the best of the best, it doesn't. Nobody has come close to slowing down Jameis Winston, not even the Florida State's Attorney. When you play Auburn, you know that Tre Mason is getting the ball, but he shreds everybody. The best players shine when the lights are brightest.

Where did the Chas stuff come from, and how does that apply here?

You shouldn't be ashamed of who you are, and I never said anything close to that. I think that you are probably a pretty decent guy.

I would love to continue this all day, but I have to the replace brake lines on my truck, in my buddy's garage. Rust is a bitch.

Funniest part:

Lynch left the festivities early tonight because he was sick.
56 coeds will have the flu in College Station by Monday.

He also looks significantly bigger than Johnny Douchebag.

Lynch: 6'0", 216
Douchebag: 6'1", 210

Hmmm. Looks like more than 6 lbs to me. And he looks taller unless JD has extremely long legs.

Do you think the Bears can/should get Johnny Football? or is he going to be another one of those college superstars whose game doesn't translate to the pros, like Tebow?

I'm good without Johnny Douchebag anywhere near the Bears.

I'd rather have the San Jose St guy or the EIU guy at a later round.

He is much more NFL ready than Tebow but that is just another way of saying that Tebow wasn't ever ready to be an NFL quarterback. Johnny Football can make NFL throws. I'd say his ceiling is Josh McCown this year and his floor is Josh McCown every other year of his career.

Manziel could be gone before the Bears pick. There does seem something special about him though and maybe he'll learn to be less of a prick! In the right system, I could see Manziel being like Russel Wilson.

Johnny football is awfully reckless though. While he escapes collegiate defenses, the speed and size of NFL players coming in all directions may kill him. I see him as a pass first Vick.

3rd place in the heisman. Tied for best ever by a non-BCS player. 40 first place votes.

He'd have finished 2nd if they didn't blow their whole season last weekend. :|
