Talk about going into hiding!

This is when you grant an interview, you get your name out there as teams start talking about new coaches.

This guy might be on an Island?

Nickel Back coach Dallas cowboys ....Mikal Smith FYI

I think his agent is his other kid...

I think he is savy enough, I also think he thinks he is some special coach that people will come to him.

Billick talks about that often, nobody came to him.

Nobody came to Billick because he was an alleged offensive guru, yet his teams @Baltimore never were confused with offensive juggernauts. Did he really do anything as an HC other than to roll the balls out at practice, then look at himself in the mirror afterwards?

At least Lovie gets some (begrudging maybe) respect as a solid defensive coach.

I think Lovie should go on some sort of publicized study tour, wherein he sits with top offensive minds, gets to know contemporary systems, etc., to demonstrate a serious commitment to offense. What I imagine is not unlike what some Packers assistant coaches did when they visited some college coaches to study the read option. You're set on defense and leadership if you hire Lovie, and perhaps ST if he gets some credit for Toub's work, so all he needs is minimal sophistication on offense.

 This kind of stuff always makes me laugh around here.

People still giving it to Lovie. He has stayed out of the spot light and done his own thing and people do not like that.

If he got out and promoted himself people would not like that either.

Lovie still cannot win with you people.

I'll be surprised if Lovie is not a head coach somewhere in 2014.

Oh Ralph, I'm just diggin your playbook. Same one you use with pretty much any Cubs post:

"You people! You're upset if [situation A] and you'd be just as upset if [opposite of situation A]... Typical [Chicago Sports Team] fans!
 "

I like it. It's predictable and safe.

i think lovie coaching the cowboys makes a lot of sense. he could handle their glaring defensive issues whilst jerry jones has enough personality/ATTITUDE/BITE/SPORTS/SHARK in him to stand up and have that come to jesus meeting with lovie where he says "you'll be the head coach, you'll be paid like the head coach, but see we're going to have [this guy] control the offense and call the plays"

i think lovie's going to at least get (rooney rule?) interviews after this season when his 6mil/year goes away. and i think the cowboys would be the best potential landing place for him if they manage to miss the playoffs or go the one-and-done route which seems more and more likely as the years go on. and hey, if not there i could see lovie doing good things up in minnesota.... i'm not sayin i'm just sayin...... #Rosemont

I hope he doesn't get a job or he gets one and it's a train wreck. He screwed up the Bears for years to come.

He stayed so out of the spotlight that when his name comes up he always says he is done?

I dont care what he does. he would make a great D coach for a team with a really good offense.

I personally hated his style of defense. Its "The Bully defense" It loads up on stats v lesser teams and does poorly v Good teams. I know everyone can say that is probably very similar with most teams. I disagree. Teams that are top teams have winning or .500 records against the top teams. I think Lovie was 20 games below teams that were .500 or above. and 30 above teams with .500 or below.

As some have even said here "they would be surprised if he wasnt a head coach in 2014" Why? This league has gone with such an offensive slant, why in the world would you hire the guy who was basically fired because he didnt have an offense for 8 years and couldnt find an OC that got anything done?

You should feel the same way about Jay Cutler then. Cutler is as much to blame as Lovie.

+1 I'm not sure how it is possible to make that statement. Spaulding has never been shy about her dislike of him as a head coach though. At the very least she is being consistent.

I thought it was time to go, but I'd be surprised if in the next 20 years we have a coach who performs as well as Lovie. Just like all coaches, he had an expiration date where what he is doing stops working with the team.

I think Spaulding was trolling with that comment, but here I don't think what he was doing just stopped working, in fact it worked quite well right up to his departure. The Bears in Lovie's last year were basically tied for second in points allowed per game. He was fired for the right reason - failing to generate offensive consistency - but when he had the proper talent in place, his defensive system worked beautifully.

Sadly if you are familiar with Spaulding's Lovie thoughts she is not trolling.

No I'm not. He wasn't as good as you guys say and a huge part of the reason the defense is so bad is because of him right now. Can't stand him. Don't see how you guys don't see it.

So they were second in points allowed last year when Lovie was here, and now they suck when he's gone. How does square with your opinion that he's responsible for the suckiness?

you are wasting your time man. She is dug in on this one. She will never change her opinion. Many of us have showed her how wrong it is, but facts do not matter to her when it comes to Lovie.

Their schedule was weak last year. The defense is old and has/had no replacements for years. His defense was based on 4-5 key players on defense that were freaks at their position. If 1 went down in any year it struggled. We have shit on d right now it most of it is because of him, and we always had shit on offense. A lot of that was because of him.
