Give the ball to Forte.

Defense has been "good".

Interesting. Coach on the chopping block?

Glazer trying to stir shit up. Don't think for a second that Emery didn't give his stamp of approval on the decision.

Don't know. Emery is all about statistics and synergy as we've heard since he got here. Playing Cutler over McCown flies right in the face on what Emery believes in.

There was a report on espn or cbs about some players expressing frustration with the decision after Cutler looked bad to average in practice. Makes all the sense in the world to be bewildered about the move, despite what looks like a win today.

Saw that. Said he was a turnover machine and the defense was pissed. Something about McCown not throwing an interception in practice in weeks.

It's very disconcerting that, given this year's offense, this is still a problem.

I don't think he has any friends but Marshall. I think McCown believes he is the better option too.

I was told by a dumbass or two that this was the 7th-best Defense in the league .... maybe not the bottom third or so like I saw over on Football Outsiders, but I sure as hell don't think the Bears overcame anything but themselves to win this game.

They need to draft some DB's in this upcoming draft. They are pitiful.

Cutler was Cutler.

Some nice plays, as many misses as hits, three touchdowns (which should have been more), and some horrible picks. Also, the offense is very hit or miss when he's in there.

I wonder if there is a noticeable difference in changing the pre-snap plays between Cutler and McCown. Everything just seems smoother with McCown.

Trestman is lucky they pulled this one out. It would have been a looooooong week if they hadn't.

That said, I hope Cutler improves and is a world beater. I'm rooting for whoever is in there, but I just don't see "it" with him.

Pretty much this.

I also love that Billick brought up Cutler locking on to targets and relying on them too much instead of mixing it up consistantly. But yeah, Cutler gonna Cutler so it is what it is. I'll chalk some of his ill passes this game up to rust, even tho they are pretty much along the lines of his trade mark bad passes that he usually makes.

I have to laugh at all those "Brandon Marshall is his biggest fan" comments. Of course he is. If a quarterback treated me as option 1, 2, and 3 I'd be loving him too.

Hasn't Cutler targeted Jeffrey only a handful less times this season than Marshall?

It doesn't seem like it.

Alshon seems like the #3 option for Cutler behind Bennett and Marshall.

I don't know what the targets looked like this game, but receptions between Marshall, Bennett, and Jeffrey went 6, 6, and 5 today.

Thats possible. But my point is that Cutler has a habbit of locking onto 1 or 2 guys a game and forcing passes quite a bit in the process.

Make the reads, hit the guy thats open. He is wish-washy with that imo

FF is right. I dont have it in front of me now, but Cutler has targeted Marshall about 10-15 times more over his starts. Maybe less too, I forgot the exact number.

Marshall was targeted 13 times today. Jeffery targeted 5.

Even if that were true I think that stat would be misleading. Marshall is clearly the option Cutler wants to go to as much as possible.

I think it is also telling that Jeffery had 5 completions on 5 targets, and Marshall had 6 completions on 13 targets. That isn't a knock on Marshall. More of an illustration of Cutler forcing it to Marshall in tight windows.
