You are now making excuses for touchdown throws?

So, you expect Josh McCown to go undefeated?

Can I get Frank to come in here and blame the defense like he was at convenient points in the season?

For the rest of this season I do. But, I don't. I think Cutler is more likely to go 3-0 on out than McCown.

I'm not too confident about the defense against Philly and I think they'll need Cutler to win that game.

I may have misunderstood your point. I read it as you were criticizing Cutler's throw. Was just explaining why it was a pop up/Hail Mary.

I'm not criticizing it. I'm just saying it was pretty much a hail mary that worked. No judgement on it either way. No reason to create excuses for it. It was just a play that happened that really doesn't say much of anything.

Trestman was the main culprit for the failure of the offense in the St. Louis game. A lot of awful decision making and play calls.

It seems to me that anyone saying it was a great game by Jay or anyone saying it was a terrible game by Jay has an agenda either way. Like some have said, it was a typical Jay game. Yes, he helped lead a comeback win on the road against a decent, but not great defense. He also was the primary reason that a comeback was needed. He made some great throws and some terrible decisions/throws.

As a Packer fan, I cant wait til that week 17 matchup, especially if the division is on the line. I would be legitimately worried if McCown was starting, but I always feel like Jay will gift wrap us the game every time we play him. Charles Woodson said the players feel that way too.

FF, any more news and when and if Rodgers is allowed to play?

If we really want to get down to it, the Bears won because Jason Campbell sucks, and either McCown or Cutler would have been able to beat him.

It seemed like he made one good throw all game.

When God wants him back out there.

Im not sure. I don't really follow that stuff day by day. I read something last week that he thought he should play against Dallas and was annoyed that he wasn't cleared yet. Which I take as a good sign because they shouldn't rush him back despite the winnable division. Nobody from the North is gonna do anything significant in the playoffs anyway.

 He made more than one good throw Rick.

Joe Haden leaving the game helped tremendously.

Woodson really summed up the Jay experience quite well.

What was it about the PERFECT QB rating on 3rd down were you not impressed with? Don't even say anything about the Jeffrey play. The guy had 1 incomplete pass on 3rd down, moved around in the pocket to avoid pressure, consistently found open receivers, and kept drives alive on 3rd down all day long. What else could Cutler have done to on 3rd down since you've made it quite clear that he didn't do a damn thing that impressed you all game?

That's the problem with Cutler loves and haters. Your personal bias and Cutler's previous games-- both good and bad-- are used to talk about the present.

Leash can't really make it any clearer that he's not a Cutler hater. He's a Bear fan who wants better QB play. Can't really blame him.

Also I'm pretty sure there's two other downs to talk about.

We have to look at past history and expected long term performance, otherwise Jay Cutler would never play another down for the Bears and McCown would finish the season because he's better this year.

The whole case against McCown is based on previous seasons and perceived hypothetical throws that he would or wouldn't have made.

THose are Cutler's fault too. Shouldn't have handed that ball off.

 Actually, Bush should have just went down and the Bears could have run out the clock. Cleveland had no timeouts at that point.

Yeah, the running plays hitting at a 5+ YPC clip that made third and short a game of pitch and catch...especially after Haden went down.

Speaking of 1st and 2nd down, it is quite obvious if you watch the game again that Cutler lacks accuracy on swing passes, screens, and all short passes. There was a 2nd down in particular that I remember Jay throwing to Martellus Bennett. Bennett caught it at about 5 yards and gained 8. If Jay had seen it and gotten it to him earlier, it would have easily been a first down. This may seem nitpicky, but it's these little things that makes an offense stay on time, and it's the difference between McCown and Cutler (at least this year).

I really can't understand the effort and cherry picking Frank and Doc are doing in defense of Cutler. They're really trying to make another one of Cutler's mediocre games appear to be great. It's really strange. I'm on record that I will go all meatball on this season if the Lions lose tonight and I doubt I could come up with similar defenses of Cutler.

I don't consider eliminating games where he was playing injured as cherry-picking.

He was responsible for the Redskins loss (he was sucking royally before getting injured) and his pride (Trestman's stupidity) played a major role in the Lions defeat. Ignoring these things and the fact that McCown looked great in relief is cherry picking when it comes to his record. I respect you and Frank's opinions but the Cutler defense is a really tough sell.

Was Cutler responsible for yesterday's loss?

I'd answer "no" because he finished the game, came back, and won it. Nobody knows how that Wash game would have ended.

Detroit was on Trestman. Cutler is never allowed to sit if there is any possibility that he can play in this town again. He learned that lesson.

You think he has it in him to make good decisions consistently or not fuck up consistently? And not just not fuck up but win?
