But seriously, that's cool about the wrestling. Old-time wrestling was a thing.

There was not much to see with the blackouts but even I was too young to remember the '63 Bears. I really didn't start watching football until about 1970 or so.

Yeah,I remember WGN-AM's Wally Phillips would get somebody to buy the rest of the unsold tickets every week so games would be locally televised.

Was in my Junior year of college- remember running a SB squares pool for our dorm floor. We watched the game from the commons on our "big screen" projection tv.

Met Moose Choloch, Bruiser and Crusher, The Barron, and a bunch of other guys whose pictures are still on the wall at there place , didnt remember most. I wasnt into it like my buddy and his brother were, they knew everyone. We went to a few matches Sunday mornings at the ampitheatre, they were in a curtained off area that had less seats than the Bozo show.

If you have been a long time Les listener, my guy MIKE from Wilmette calls in enough, he has long phone calls with Les and he was a wrestling guy as well. he jumped out of the stands to get Dick the Bruisers game! I am guessing he retains it to this day!

My Wrestling breakthrough came one night from the GAAAARDEN when Bachlund and Snuka went at it in a cage match! and my last match was at the Aragon Brawl room, for a real old time ECW match when The nerdy Dudley brother jumped from the balcony with an elbow drop on New Jack City who he had laid out on the table below. Right in front of us. call it fake all you want, that had to hurt everyone involved.

New Jack was a terrifying individual. That guy worked stiffer than stiff.

Exactly. That is what I always said. The match was predetermined but those guys punished themselves. Those guys you mentioned bring back a lot of memories. I grew up watching Bob Luce Wrestling on good ole' channel 26.

I was 8. We watched the game at my aunt and uncle's house. My dad fell asleep and there were playboy magazines in the bathroom. The food was good.

Yeah, he got fucked out of the MVP because he acted like an asshole with the media. The defense was dominating and they gave it to Dent, but there has never been another Super Bowl quarterback that played as well as McMahon did without getting the MVP and a lot who didn't play as well and still got it.

Second year of college in Atlanta.

My RA decided that the place we had to watch all that season's playoff games was the Buckhead Cinema & Drafthouse. Old movie house with a full bar. By the time the Super Bowl rolled around, my slightly underaged ass was transplanted Bear fan #1. We made every over the air station in Atlanta that night (incl. TBS Ch. 17). Viewers wondered where in the hell a Sicilian community existed in the good ol' boy 404    . Thank God it snowed a half an inch that night and they closed the city the next morning.

I remember almost passing out at around 11pm, only to make a recovery and drink/celebrate another 4-5 hours.

And then to wake up to the shuttle disaster.

That MVP had to go to the defense. It was predetermined and appropriate.

Correct. It proved what Hampton has been saying since then. McMahon was just the monkey "driving" the offensive bus.

That offense was a lot better than people remember. And McMahon was great in that game. A quarterback plays like that in the Super Bowl, he's the MVP. That's that. It's never been any different except that one time. And that was only because McMahon ran around New Orleans acting like a douchebag for the week leading up to the game.

That was a helluva line opening up man sized holes for Payton, Pinky & Suhey iirc. And there was still fear about what Walter could/would do. And they passed enough to keep defenses honest.

McMahon was great, when he played his 6-8 games that season, but aside from the Minnesota and Miami/afterward games, that was really Steve Fuller under center when that team went on that ungodly run.

And I was all set to argue with you about the MVP thing, until I remembered that Rod Martin didn't get the MVP in the Raiders/Eagles Super Bowl 5 yrs earlier.

I thought I saw the '85 Bears, but this isn't what I remember. Steve Fuller may have had dreams of running like lightning and passing like thunder. But I remember him only as the guy you DIDN'T want to be when you did the Super Bowl shuffle for the school talent show... well maybe LA Mike too.

I didn't say the pedestrian Fuller really had anything to do with the ungodly run the defense went on.

Dirty Dragon!

lemon joke kid was and still is a scary Mofo! Black cape, they would play the chopper music and he drop lemon bombs, the screen would flicker on and off, camera zooming in and out. creepy charcter running across a screen.

Upper Left corner? correct? I thought he always wore a mask though?

He did. Lemon head, cape and man hands dropping lemon grenades from his helicopter.

I shudder to think what kind of debauchery that show caused on drinking college campuses. :drunken:
