If he can learn to overcome his mistakes and not let it quicksand his entire game, he will be a very good QB in this league. I just am unsure if he is ready to do that

Keep in mind that he did fumble the snap, and has continued to do well afterwards. Maybe that means something.

Do you have a direct ticket package? I am jealous.

No, I wish, but I'm in a dorm, so I'm restriced in what I can carry. I have all the NFL stats windows open, and I'm hopping between a few different fan chat boards.

True, I am not sure if thats an anomaly, and it is preaseason, but he didnt do that often last year so maybe he is showing some improvement. When he can do that in the regular season against a team that actually showed up, it will be all that more impressive

Walt Harris was sitting all over that route. That was a bad decision; that was the sort of thing that I'm worried about.

That's the sort of thing Nas doesn't worry about.

follows it up with a terrible 10 and out pass. I am not sure we are seeing a Rex that is different then last year in any sort of way. He is still afraid of the quicksand.

nice pass to the white guy there. I like him as a 6th receiver. I think he might surprise some people.

I cant blame him, he is by far the most invaluable Bears player on offense. He should not even be in the game by now.

Teams are sitting on the flat. The first pass was the result of Rex staring the receiver down. That wasn't the case on the second near-interception. Other short pass options, like screens, will open that up (NOTE: I was typing this before the screen was called.)

Olin just blew a block on the screen to AP that cost the Bears a first down.

I wonder what the field condition is at Soldier Field after all the rain. We've seen a lot of slipping out there, and the gameplay looks slower in general. I'm one of those non-purists who thinks they really need to install that rubberized fake field.

What a cowardly call by the 49ers. Run your 2 minute drill- it's the preseason!

I wouldn't mind seeing it replaced if there was a study done showing that injuries aren't more likely on the "fake" playing surface. That's my only concern.

Yeah, I'm not saying put in that pseudo-grass that plays like concrete and busts patella tendons like they were spaghetti noodles. I think that newer stuff has been pretty good in that regard, but I don't have data to back up that assertion.

Mat Schaub 11/14, 101 yards and 2 TDs against Dallas. All Aboard! 21-6, Texans

nice run by AP to get in with a nice block by the white guy. good job by the offense tonight in the first half. I'm not ready to throw boquets at Rex yet, but he's looked pretty good save for a couple of mistakes.

Looks like the coaches just finally decided to play a running back that'll give some effort....I know it's the preseason and you don't wanna get hurt, but Cedric Benson....what the fuck?!

How much does Atlanta regret that trade right now?

I wish they showed catches allowed in the box score. Its pretty much impossible to judge rookie CBs in preseason without it

Rex first half: 13/20 211 yards, 2 TDs 1 INT 1 recovered fumble. So far through the preseason, 91.51 passer rating. Not bad, especially if (like me) you think the fumbles are an anomaly.

Footballoutsiders.com, who release the Pro Football Prospectus, keep track of catch rates for both defensive players and receivers, but obviously there's a lag between the games and the data. Another thing that complicates matters is that, in a zone, it can be difficult to determine who is to blame.

I don't know, I'm starting to worry about it...and I'm in the Sexy Business. I hope it doesn't turn into a Rick Ankiel/Chuck Knoblach mental block.

good point, but at the same time that tells me that the offensive line is doing their job. Once Rex learns to shorten up the time he spends reading the deeper routes the offense, and Rex, will show huge improvement.
