If Cutler struggles early on Sunday, will Trestman have the balls to make a switch, even it's only for a series or two?

Everyone deserves blame, the team played poorly. They will probably beat the Packers just to string things out and then Trestman can own the record for worst home playoff loss in Bears history.

A couple first downs would have solved everything huh? You blinded by Cutler hatred and/or McCown love. Let's say the Bears got 3 first downs, but the last play of the drive was a sack. And THEN the 20 yard punt happened. That still sets the Eagles up with pretty damn good field position.

On the last page you were talking about hypothetical Jay Cutler making plays. Now you are talking about hypothetical punts

Real Jay Cutler wasn't good last night against a shit defense when they needed him to be. Fair enough to say Frank?

OK you Cutler haters have won the battle already! Put in McCown, that'll solve everything!

Of course.

Real Jay Cutler is not the reason the Bears were down 14-0 with 6 minutes left in the first quarter last night. Fair enough to say?

Sure he's a big reason why they wouldn't have won even if that score stayed at 14. Mr big arm couldn't move his team down the field at all , all game. That's on the defense and special teams though.

Which one of the 516 yards that the Bears defense gave up was Cutler responsible for?

Why is it improper to say that the defense AND Cutler (the offense) sucked last night? Why does Cutler have to be the PRIMARY reason they lost in order to criticize him? I don't see the logic. Cutler is not the reason the Bears lost last night, but he certainly wasn't good.

If everyone is counting on any QB to score on every single drive then you are being unrealistic. Yes it would have been great if they scored on their opening drive. They didnt and before they had a chance again they were down 14. That changes the whole gameplan.

Cutler wasnt good. The defense was awful. Trestman got outcoached.

He was bad last night. He is a big reason why they lost.

He was NOT a big reason as to why they were in a 14-0 hole almost before the game started. I'm not sure why people fail to realize that. 20 yard punt and a special teams fumble is Cutler's fault because he didn't move the ball down the field!

As I said, McCown must have never, ever had a 3 and out with this team.

I think we all lost perspective last week (myself included). All the radio heads and TV heads were talking about how this was going to be a huge shootout with two GREAT offenses. I have trouble with the concept of the Bears as an elite offense. They've put up good numbers this year in terms of points, but it's not like they've been destroying the league and scoring at will from the onset of games. The defense still has to be at least competent against teams like Philly because the Bears are not capable of outscoring them unless everything goes their way and Alshon Jeffery is making circus catches.

But who is absolving the defense and special teams?

Why is saying that Cutler wasn't good equal to saying that he is the main reason they lost? I think you are inferring that incorrectly.

When Cutler has a mediocre game while the defense has one of the worst games in NFL history and certain people come on here first thing firing on Cutler, that kind of lacks much credibility, you know.

I see your point, but people are probably searching for easy answers. You can't replace the entire defense - it's a lost cause. Replacing the quarterback only takes one substitution. I'm not saying it's the answer, but it's a quick fix. That's the nature of the position.

Cutler has been bailed out by the defense for the past 4 years. Could Cutler perhaps bail out th D for once?

No but he was a big reason they didnt climb out of it. He leads the offense , they put 3 fucking points on the board in an entire half against one of the worst pass defenses in the league . How does the defense being bad have anything to do with that . Defense could've played to their averages and it's still a blowout . Expect to win that game scoring 11? Offense scores more with Cutler remember? He's as much to blame as the D or special teams or any other player .

Bail out the D? They were the fucking Titanic. Even a great game from Cutler probably means that they lose 54-38

To be fair I didn't expect him to score 60 but Id feel a lot better if he played well and scored 35 or so. It's still a loss but At least that would inspire some confidence that they'll score against Green Bay.

Or it could've been an awesome duplicate of the Cowboys/Broncos game earlier in the year.

Are you a Bears fan? Your Bears posts are full of hatred. Maybe you should do something else on Sundays.

My posts are full of hatred because I hate this team. I hate the players, the coaches, the Head Coach and especially the ownership for wasting Bears fans' Sundays since 1985.

Your advice is well received and probably is the best course of action. I freed up my entire summer after I stopped watching/supporting the White Sox, pretty much for the same reasons (poor players, poor coaching and shitty ownership).

This team really is a joke. Third largest market, a charter franchise but a very pedestrian record with the occasional playoff appearance mixed in. This was the Bears chance to win the division since the Lions suck and Rodgers is hurt, but as is the Bears they got ass-raped on National TV. Marc Trestman is in way over his head as was put on display last night. He has no business being in the NFL.

This team will wilt again next Sunday to a Matt Flynn-led Packers team and thus will end another wasted season.

I'm not asking for perfection, I'm asking for something worth rooting for.

Merry Christmas.

Hello.

Week 1 Bears D won that game. Had a key 4th quarter turnover and held Cincy to only 21.
