I think it depends on the length of his deal - the longer it is (meaning the amount of time you reasonably expect him to be around, since contracts are fungible), then you probably draft a QB late. And vice versa. They really need a pass rush though after whiffing on McClellin...

They need everything on defense. If they sign Cutler to a 5 year deal it doesn't make sense to draft a QB IMO. If that franchise him (I've been against this from Day 1) then they pretty much have to draft one in the 1st round.

"Fales won't be on every draft board due to his pedestrian arm strength but his passing vision, touch and overall feel for the postion is above average making him a great fit for a west coast offense that emphasizes multiple reads". Dane Brugler NFLDraftScout.com

Sounds good.

You have to keep in mind that Emery is going to try and be the smartest most out of the box guy in the room. He will be the guy to pull the trigger on Johnny Football.

That's Emery. Usually people want to be smart about mid to late round draft picks.

What about the EIU QB? Didn't see him play but I'd be curious what others think.

Emery better not fuck up this 1st rounder. I pray to God he's not looking at a QB from Boise State.

I think the EIU guy might be overloved. The game I saw had weather but he didn't look exceptional.

As part of the trade that put the Redskins in position to draft RG3, the Rams get the Skins' first rounder this year, which is second overall.

Huge haul for the Rams. I think they are a playoff contender next year.

That is. Probably on the list of reasons why Mr Orange is getting fired. They may have been better off not drafting RG3.

Defensive line should be the priority. Fix that and all other positions begin to look better.

Bridgewater would be the absolute most perfect of perfect fits for this offense. No interceptions, great accuracy, looks at all his options, deadly with short and intermediate passes, enough mobility but not one who will take off immediately....simply a perfect fit. Unfortunately he will be long gone.

Maybe, just maybe, someone wows them at the combine and he falls a little. I don't think his arm strength is going to be eye popping. It wouldn't take much for the Bears to move up from 14 into the top 10.

This is still way to early to be talking about QB. There will be lots of movement on that front over the next few months.

Remember that Glennon was a guy the Bears appeared to want last year and his numbers are remarkably similar to Cutler's.

Teddy ballgame has a thin frame on him. 6'3 190 if he is lucky. I think he needs to muscle up some to play a full NFL season. I think ideally he would get to 210 but he should be there already so its concerning that he is so lanky.

Blake Bortles is the hot new QB racing up the board.

He's now looking like a 8-16 guy in the 1st round. He's about 6'3"/220.

From SI -
Conclusion: If Bortles comes out for the 2014 draft and passes on that extra year in college, he’ll be a bit of a developmental prospect. However, that’s not a negative — he’ll just need to be with a team that understands how close he is to mastering certain aspects of the position at the levels required for the NFL, without pushing him into the arena too soon. I could see him going in the middle of the first round in the upcoming draft, and with another season to refine his skills, he could look more and more like the best quarterback in his draft. I wouldn’t put him at that spot this time around, especially if Teddy Bridgewater declares for the 2014 draft, but he’s got all the raw tools to be a great NFL quarterback — and he’s further along with the little things than some might expect.

Pro comparison: Jake Locker, Tennessee Titans. Bortles is a better thrower in the pocket than Locker was coming out of Washington, and he isn’t as athletic as a pure runner, but the two players have very similar physical structures, and the ability to make every throw with some caveats. There are also elements of Colin Kaepernick and Ryan Tannehill in Bortles’ game.

I would be really really happy if they go with Clinton Dix. And he should be there at 14. Any of the top CBs at 14 would be solid too.

Given the Bears' safety performance at the end of this year, you'd have to take Clinton-Dix and be glad you got him.

Is Shanahan Mr. Orange? He was reportedly against RGIII from the start.

No way. Shanahan was a major force in making the trade to get him. The reason he shut him down at the end was basically as a last resort. His hope was Cousins would play really well so he could put the blame on RG3. Instead, Shanahan fucked the Skins even harder by lowering Cousins trade value by exposing him. Shanahan really screwed them bad.

I'm not sure that's true. If it's been proven to be true, correct me. But it had Snyder's stink all over it from the start.

Snyder was all for it, but Shanahan was all about RG3. He loved him.

IIRC it was Shanahan that wanted RG3.

I'm probably wrong. I never followed it very closely, but I thought I read a few different places that Shanahan wasn't a fan of the trade and they picked his guy Cousins to appease him.

He was also high on Cousins. He thought he could be a trading chip BUT he killed his value. I would offer a 4th round pick if I were Emery.

My original prediction is not likely to occur unless Mc Carron has hurt his status so much now that he is a late round pick.

The pick now has to be defense. That would be excellent if the top S in the draft falls to them. Still, they could justify a pick at any defensive position. Even those "great" LB from last year look replaceable.

Murray has dropped due to injury & is projected to go in the 4-6 round. He fits Trestmans system perfectly & if he's there at 5 or 6 the Bears cant pass him up.

I saw a mock draft that has the Bears drafting Alabama LB C.J. Mosley, so I watched him for a good part of the game last night. He is a beast of a football player.

I saw him a few times this season and he is a heck of a player. I'd be surprised if he fell that far but if he
was available he is a guy that could fill that linebacker role for many years to come if healthy.

At #14, I have to think the Bears go DT or DE.

I'd take Mosley or Clinton-Dix.

I think one of them will be there.

Listening to McShay, I think all those teams early that need a QB might get cold feet and cause a run of overdrafting QBs which would be great for the Bears.

I'm guessing Tuitt is going to be their top guy on their board that would available.

Clinton-Dix is high on Monica Lewinskys draft board HaHa.
