The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to trade Andrew Bynum and a draft pick to the Chicago Bulls for forward Luol Deng, sources told ESPN.com.

The deal is expected to be completed on Tuesday morning when the teams have a conference call with the league office.

Bynum is expected to be released by 5 p.m. on Tuesday before the second half of his $12.3 million contract becomes guaranteed.

The deal will save the Bulls more than $15 million in salary and luxury taxes, taking them below the salary-cap threshold. In addition, the Cavs will send the Bulls a first round pick owed to them by the Sacramento Kings that is top 10 protected in the next two drafts.

The Cavs had discussions for more than a week with the Los Angeles Lakers involving in a deal for Pau Gasol but could not come to an agreement. The Cavs also had talks about trading Bynum's contract to the Utah Jazz for Richard Jefferson.

Bulls get a lot back.

They get Kings 1st rounder in 2014, owned by Cavs. Right to swap 1st rounders in 20-5, and two 2nd round picks.

In exchange for Deng, the Cavs send Chicago Bynum, Cleveland’s right to the Sacramento King’s first round draft pick conveyed in a June 30, 2011 deal, the right for Chicago to swap its own 2015 first round draft pick with the Cavs own 2015 first round draft pick (only in the case that the Cleveland 2015 first round draft pick is between 15 and 30) and the Portland Trail Blazer’s 2015 and 2016 second round draft picks acquired from the Trail Blazers via 2013 draft night trade.

As a bandwagon Bulls fan this kinda stinks. I wanted to see this crew give the Heat more than one shot. Damn injuries. Oh well.

Well Jerry at least gets to save a lot of money in this deal.

This is the amazing thing about NBA trades.

Essentially the Bullsjust saved $15M in cap space (which is the ultimate goal), gave away a good player, but got a shit load of picks in return also.

This doesn't happen in any other league.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YEYES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES S YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES

basically, we got rid of loldeng for a veritable lottery ticket....notice i didn't say lottery pick, because we're getting the kings pick which has a convoluted history like this:

2012 first round pick (protected top 14 in 2012, top 13 in 2013, top 12 in 2014, top 10 in 2015-17, else 2017 second round pick (protected 56-60))

so yeah, the pick protections ultimately don't end up like the bobcats' pick where come 2016 we get their pick lottery or otherwise..... if the kings remain bad and dont perform better than ending up with a top-10 pick from 2015-2017 we get a 2nd round pick dumped on us in 2017...... however you'd figure the kings are due to to have a #11-14 pick at some point b4 2017.... i have faith that the NBA and their rigged lottery system won't let us end up with a 2nd round draft pick for this.

but the most important thing with this trade is that deng is gone..... idk his market you'd hope you could have gotten more.... but we got rid of the epitome of the super/try-hard-bulls going back to ~03/04 or whatever. even tho he had been missing lately hopefully this deals a somewhat crippling blow to our playoff chances cuz i swear to god if we make the playoffs this year...... man. there is no excuse to make the playoffs this year because these guys have to realize that there is no pride in going to the playoffs to get assraped and effectively end any chances of getting difference makers who could make this franchise a legitimate contender sometime down the road.

don't give me some "professional integrity" bullshit.... you're paid millions of dollars to be manchild and you're going to live a semi-charmed life even if your third eye is blind from a leaky pineal gland (/me smiles as he loses 98% of everyone who he hasn't already lost there =) and rah rah rah. the best thing for the bulls right now is to lose quickly and efficiently and get your hat into the ring for a lottery pick.... cuz look no further back than 07-08 with a 1.9% chance at the #1pick/d-rose and BLAM, you're reminded that this is the NBA "Where AMAZING Happens!" and yeah..... i want to be amazed, so that means i want the bulls to blow up this dumbass floorslappy try-hard bunch that could only muster 1.5 cocktease seasons over the last ~11 years or whatever.

so yeah kind of a meh trade but still it's a glorious day when the heart and soul of this disappointing bulls trade was finally shipped off..... now get to the business of losing and we can FINALLY. GET. CLOSER. TO. A. CHAMPIONSHIP.

you know, knowing my luck andrew bynum will suit up for the bulls and easily be the best center in the eastern conference. i'll call the resulting clusterfuck / 2017 2nd round pick "the curse of LOLDENG"

I'm not a huge Bulls guy, but I will bet you a (1) Mountain Dew that Bynum does NOT suit up for the Bulls this year.

So the Bulls will have unprotected picks for the Kings and Bobcats in 2016?

So when will the Bulls get this 1st round pick? Seems they are always getting picks that no one ever seems to know when they will actually happen

If I am reading this right, if the Kings picks doesnt land outside the top 10 through 2017, it just becomes a second round ick in 2017? That is fucking awful if true.

Oh, that's every NBA team. It's always the right to trade firsts with some team unless they miss the playoffs but not the next year and forget the whole thing if wheat prices go up 20%.

Missing in all this is Bynum got 6 million to play for the heat this year. Maybe he will start trying again for four months, sign a large contract then stop playing again.

They are doing everything they can to make sure Thibs doesn't make the playoffs. Good deal.

This trade is bad. The Cavs swap is only if they are not in lottery. The Kings pick only comes if they don't suck sometime in the next four years.

See this stuff makes no fucking sense to me. A first round pick that becomes a second round pick?

Turns out Bulls and Deng were in contract talks at last minute. Deng turned down $30 million for three, thus convincing Bulls he was leaving

They need to cut Noahs minutes drastically and sit him a lot going forward. Maybe they could sneak into top 8. Though that may take firing Thibbs.
