Just awful. Isn't there room for write-in votes? No need to put some of these chumps on there.

If there was a Hall Of Fame Even Years players, Steve Trachsel would be a lock.

They should vote in all the steroid guys the same year. Make Bonds/Piazza/Clemens et all stand up there and get inducted together and be done with it.

And pick a new commish from outside current tainted-by-PEDs MLB management

I'd say Clemens from Toronto onward. Ryan, no, other than taking a few Advil after roping Robin Ventura like one of his steers.

False narrative and outright myth. One of the greatest moments in baseball history was seeing Ventura choke that old bitch until he turned purple.

I was just funnin' with the Ryan comment...the punches did look like noogies, as Ventura claimed.

He's still one of my favorite pitchers though.

Robin is hardly choking him if at all. He's wrapped under Nolan's arm. He's not around his neck. Nolan landed punches. Robin landed a hug. Nolan wins by a landslide.

16 didn't vote for Maddux. 1 voted for Jacque Jones. Those 17 should never vote again.

Morris off the list forever. He can definitely get elected to the bulldog/gamer Hall of Fame, though.

You need to get your eyes checked.

He reversed the hold and took him down by the neck.

And All Nolan did was get a headlock and noogie

As I said, not nearly as one sided as most people think

Correct. He got punched a lot. Then hugged Nolan and brought him to the ground without ever causing physical harm to him. Nolan's armpit may have a mark from the bear hug, though.

Nolan's catcher also fucks him by pulling Robin out of the hold. Saved Robin.

I'm pleasantly surprised the voters didn't fuck this up. It's too bad for Biggio but he'll get in next year. I love that Bonds and Clemens totals went down and Palmiero fell off the ballot. Morris will get the Santo treatment and get in on his 33rd try by some bullshit hand picked veteran committee.

Yeah. Robin wasn't hurt at all. This is like declaring a winner in the NBA slapfights with Reggie Miller and Jordan.

Welcome back Robin. We know you're a fighter. And a winner. Robin. Ventura. Doesn't. Quit.

If you dont know the difference between noogies and punches, you're not really qualified to discuss such things.

Robin took Nolan down and looked worse than Robin afterwords. Did you not the freeze frame of Nolan's face in agony and Robins hands around his neck?

Anyway, funny tidbit from the announcement

"The bigger the game, the better he pitched"

That was said about Tom Glavine. LOL.

What about Bagwell?

You assume he cheated?

I think they both probably did

Biggio was likely a victim of the ballot having a 10-name limit. Let's say you are a voter who doesn't care about PEDs. Your ballot would likely contain Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, etc., plus Maddux, Thomas, etc. No room left for Biggio.

It's gotta suck to be one or two votes shy.

He was, for sure. He was 2 votes shy. I saw at least 1 writer on twitter say he had Biggio at 11.

Shit if Roberto Alomar didn't get in first ballot , Biggio can wait a year. They weren't even close as to who was better.

That is a great read, thanks for sharing.

As a sports fan one of the worst days of my life was finding out he had signed with the Braves.

It was interesting that only Biggio and Piazza increased their voting %ges from last year -- everyone else went down. Lee Smith dropped nearly 20%!

Lee Smith is under the cloud of having consumed many cows that were on steroids during his career.

Quote:
Eddie Perez caught 832 1/3 innings from Maddux, by far the most of any catcher, all with the Atlanta Braves. He caught Maddux's final Cy Young season, which capped a four-year era in which Maddux was 75-29 with a 1.98 ERA. His strikeout-to-walk ratio was 7. And early on, when Perez was learning the big-league game, Maddux called nearly every pitch from the mound.

"Now I can talk about it," Perez said Tuesday.

When Perez returned the ball to the mound, he said, Maddux would designate the next pitch by the way he caught the ball, or the way he held his right hand, or touched his cap. And Perez would follow along. It went on like that for months, until Perez decided he knew the opposing hitters – and Maddux – well enough to take over.

"I got it," he told Maddux one afternoon. "Let me call tonight's game."

Maddux nodded and went along with it, shaking off Perez only two or three times. They won the game. Perez was elated.

"How'd I do?" Perez asked proudly.

Maddux looked up at Perez and said, "Those two or three? That's too much."
