Brought some to NYE. It was pretty darn good.

Can't wait to try it. This will be my first Solemn Oath beer. I still can't taste anything, so no beer today either.

Just finished some Mudpuppy Porter by Central Waters - not a bad offering, little on the light side.

I just finished The Devil Made Me Do It! Imperial Oatmeal Coffee Porter by Tyranena and wow - this thing blew me away. It was the best beer I've had so far this 2014 year (but Hopslam is coming)

Damn that sounds good, Vince. And of course, the closest place to me that sells it is Cardinal Liquor in Joliet.

I enjoy both of those beers. Those are two excellent breweries.

Hopslam will be out next Monday. My Mariano's said they will get it on 1/17.

That is the rumor my Binny;s guy gave me too. I'll be at the store each day until I see it.

My only issue with the Mudpuppy was it was a bit light on the alcohol side. Very smooth beer but needed the extra kick.

I like Tyranena's special offerings but never been a fan of their all year stuff.

Picked up a four pack of Founders Imperial Stout. I'm looking forward to cracking one soon.

I don't know if it has been mentioned yet but Six Point Brewery Resin is becoming one of my favorites. Six Point Global Warming is good too.

Also, for those who enjoy Bigby's Pour House, they're opening a second location at Golf/Algonquin. Not far from my neck of the woods at all.

That's crazy.

I'll wait another week and get as much as I want from someplace else.

Let me know where you can find Hopslam six days from now.

Ok, that's fine for the parking lot. Then what?

Is this serious?

HopSlam will be much easier to get in another week or two. 90% of the stuff hasn't crossed state lines yet.

Every place I checked last year sold out within a week, and that's all they got. Just prove me wrong in a week then. Simple as that.

My experience has been you will find pockets of Hopslam after the initial rush but you won't find it in quantities.

My buddy has 4 cases in his truck after a work trip to Kalamazoo. Looks like I am buying more.

I ended up sending half of my case to New Mexico for my favorite beer.

The solution is to stop looking for it at Binny's. Binny's is great when I want to browse a large selection of beers and take home what looks good. Binny's is the worst for trying to find the hot item everybody wants. It's "gone" before it even hits the shelf.

For several years in a row, I have found more HopSlam than I could ever want at a couple mom/pop shops in my area. Can't imagine it would be any different this year. It just gets there a little later than Binny's. And they don;t set a "limit". Two years ago, a place by me got the mini-kegs too, but didn't get any last year.

Agreed with Spanky. All the beer snobs line up and stake out Binny's, which is why you can never find the "hot" item. I haven't seen a Three Floyd's beer on the shelf at Binny's in probably 3 years now.

Fair enough. My local place in Palatine ran out of their Hopslam supply within a day this week, though. And, yes, I do look at the little places frequently. Another off-the-beaten-path store in Palatine frequently has FFF products long after others have sold out.

Your other alternative if you go to Binnys enough is to make friends with the beer guys and they will make sure you are taken care of.

This is true. This is also why it's gone before it gets on the shelf.
