I dropped $1200 for my wife and me at Guy Savoy in Caesars. We were there for about four hours and God knows how many courses and the food wasn't dainty bites either. It was almost worth the money. Celine Dion's husband was at the next table with a party of six or eight (no Celine though) and my wife was jabbering with them in French while I sipped my champagne. That was the night I learned that "grouse" in French is "grouse".

Best New England Clam Chowder I ever had was in Vegas

http://rmseafood.com/

Had it for Lunch once. So good, we decided to go for Dinner on a Friday night and the place was almost empty. Maybe 10 people seated at 8 PM.

Shockingly, still there.

A place like EL Ideas appeals to me way more than Alinea.
You can get the same quality of food for about 1/4 of the price, it's BYOB, you don't have to wear a sportcoat and it's is (allegedly) WAY less stuffy.

Have come close, but haven't quite pulled the trigger on that one yet. I'm more of a Bad Apple kind of guy.

There was a time where I would spend money like that on dinner. There was also a time I didn't have 19 kids too. The couple should have been strangled for brining a baby there. I would have asked for my $1000 back if I were there.

What's your go to steak place in vegas? other vegas "experts" please feel to share too.

Delmonico's and Joe's Stone at Caesar's (basically the same as the one in Chicago) are very good, but honestly the best steak I've had in Vegas was at AJ's at the Hard Rock. The only reason I ate there (as I'm not a Hard Rock Hotel fan) was because our group had been comped, but it was phenomenal.

Kerry Simon makes sure the vegas Hard rock food is always good. No matter which place.

Last year, I watched all the NFL games at CULINARY DROP OUT, loved that place. No huge meals, smaller meals, not smaller plates so you can eat all day and drink all day.

Had some Lamb at 35 couple years ago, its excellent.

FU never tried

I thought it was more than that? My buddy and his wife went with a $1500 gift card and I think that barely covered dinner.

For what its worth, everything I hear about the place is that its amazing and you don't leave hungry. But, I've also heard that lately the head chef Grant isn't on the premises that often and the food is being cooked by his helpers these days.

That's just to cover the reservation. Everything else is extra as I recall.

$2000 for dinner? There better be several nice bottles of Opus One on the table that I can leave with. I've sent close to $700 at a place (when I only had 1 kid) and there was a lot of alcohol involved. I couldn't imagine spending that just for dinner for 1 person. How many times have you taken the entire family there?

I thoroughly enjoyed Everest myself. I cannot wait until I no longer have to pay for private lessons & training for the sons so I can fully enjoy the experience again.

Although at the (significantly lower) price point, I also enjoyed the hell out of Brasserie Jo as well.

Serendipitously, there is an article in our local paper about a young chef who recently honed his craft at Alinea, and now is opening a restaurant nearby. Got a real hippie vibe from him...

I will be thinking of you as you sit at the opera Saturday night smiling, because if you don't your wife will have your ass. Enjoy.

Also, Everest is a great roller coaster ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Yes, Mr. Coztansa factually speaking I believe that is correct. Did you ever sit in the very front seat?
