During the bulk of their careers, Brady played with better defenses and better coaches, Manning played with better offensive weapons.

And there are multiple people in this thread that say Brady is better and there shouldn't even be a discussion.....

We're in agreement then.

Less than a quarter in and I'm already to mute the game because of Simms' idiocy. "The officials are missing obvious calls not because of incompetency, but because it's the NFL Playoffs and they're lettin' 'em play!"

Omaha!

I'm hoping manning wins because I think he'll retire.

Denver's defense seems better with Del Rio back at D-coordinator exclusively.

Brady has shredded Del Rio defenses in the past. Belichek usually pretty good at halftime adjustments . If Denver doesn't score here before half, I think they're in trouble.

Wasn't Del Rio coaching Jacksonville Central High for most of those games.

Give any NFL QB as much time as Manning has had today and he's gonna beat you.

You take the 3 points and go in at half-time up 2 scores.

Peyton Manning has been the best player on the field.

I agree that manning losing would be a disappointment, assuming he's the reason they lose. If they lose by something like 38-42 with him accounting for five touchdowns, then he's not at fault, even if he throws a pick six that clinches it for NE in the fourth quarter.

Tony Romo agrees with this..

I started a thread about this after Romo's loss to the Denver, during which he put up something like 42 points in a 49-52 loss. He took the blame for the loss because he threw a pick six near the end or something, but there's no way a QB is to blame for a loss after putting up six TDs.

Brady has missed some easy throws.

Either Brady's throws are off or his receivers are screwing up.

Your team/the defense put the ball in your hands with a chance to win at the end of the game and you throw a pick or pick 6 and it's on your head. Especially in the NFL these days where it's becoming a last possession wins game.

Wouldn't it be weird if it was 60 degrees for the championship game and 20 degrees for the Super Bowl this year?

Pats should feel good only down 10. Broncos should have capitalized on more that half. Brady missed on a couple big throws, too, though.

The Broncos D is biting on playaction, and I'm not sure why.

Projections say it will be 40.

If the Broncos score a touchdown right here this game is over.

No way. Not with Brady. Not this early.

I cannot agree. I look at it the other way: your QB put up 42 points on the board, and you let the other team match it point for point. That game was %100 the fault of the defense. It would be different if the D "put the ball" in Romo's hands because of good defense, but mostly Romo got the ball back so much because the defense sucked.

Manning could auction off changing his "OMAHA!" to another word for the Super Bowl to the highest bidder.

"NIKE!"

"PETSMART!"

"ADM SUPERMARKET TO THE WORLD!"

"BUD LIGHT" wait, didn't he already product place them.

I have a friend who blamed the Packers loss on Cutler, not for anything he did in the early part of the game, but because he threw an interception on a hail mary during a drive where they got the ball back with ~30 seconds left and no timeouts.

That's the game. I don't see any miracles happening today. Manning is in complete control.

More inclined to agree with that when defenses had (or sometimes still have) more of a say in the outcome of a game. Seems like games where the scoring gets to that level both teams are racking up Madden-esque yards/points, i.e., the Broncos vs Cowboys game. Can't give the Broncos Defense much credit for that win, so why should the Cowboys D take the blame? They gave Romo the chance to score and win on the last possession. He blew it.

Look at the first weekend of the playoffs, how many of those games came down to the winning team executing and scoring on their final drive. Luck executed for the Colts, Smith failed for the Chiefs. Brees executed for the Saints and well, the Eagles didn't get a shot. SF over Rodgers...

Success or failure when you have the ball with the game on the line is what it's all about for QB's, been that way since Elway-Staubach-Montana et al. Only now I think it's amplified with the way the game has shifted to favor offense and passing.

wow, figured NE was just going to line up and try to draw Denver offside. Need 3 scores and NE just left one on the field.

Well that was a dagger. Barring a turnover, Denver got this.
