Going for it is the better call anyway. Kicking there is the same risk-averse nonsense that the majority of NFL coaches do even though it 20-6 isn't exactly a desirable position either. Fox's 19-yard field goal as well as his timeout at the end of the first half were both far worse than Belichick going for it.

Yes you can make poor decisions in football as in any other sport and still win the game. That doesn't mean those decisions were correct unless you're engaging in the most simplistic kind of results-oriented thinking. The mere fact that Fox's questionable decisions did not come back to bite him in the ass does not change the fact that they were questionable.

What's questionable about winning.

Fox goes for it and doesn't make it, take 3 points off the board for the Broncos.

Belichick kicks the FG instead of going for it and not making it, add 3 points to the Pats score.

Fox doesn't take a timeout before kicking a field goal, and he doesn't even have to worry about Brady possibly leading the Patriots down the field. Justifying Fox's decisions simply because he happened to win the game is like saying the guy who shoves with 72 offsuit pre-flop made the right decision because the flop came 777.
