1. Coopers Hawk. For some reason I thought that this place was just another cookie cutter chain. Mrs. Scorehead & I went to the location on Freedom Drive off of I88 near Mortons in Naperville last Saturday & this place has outstanding food. Fresh, original & homemade. They have a Thai lettuce wrap appetizer that is unbelievable, & the Salmon is equally great. If you like Wine this is the place for you. Many wine tastings 7 great Wine.
This place is now in our regular rotation of places to eat.

2. The Turf Room, Randall Road in North Aurora. There is an OTB here & the restaurant has a Horse racing theme which even extends to the bathrooms, which are all private "stalls" each with their own toilet & sink. I am told that from time to time couples use these stalls together for other reasons. Anyways...great food, original menu, great bar, there is an outdoor patio for eating or smoking Cigars. This place isn't cheep but good food usually isn't.

Not at all. The food is better than many higher end restaurants that I have been to. Just outstanding.

Try season 52 and let me know how it is.

There is a coopershawk by us but there is a restaurant called topaz in the same area and it's better so coopers usually loses. We do like it, food is always very fresh.

Cooper's Hawk is a chain that caters toward the same clientele that The Melting Pot does.

Dudes have to go there when their wives can't find enough women to go there with for "ladies nights".

Keep it.

I've been to a couple different Cooper's Hawks, three I think. They recently changed their menu and it's much better. It wasn't good prior to that IMO. But, I had some kind of jalapeño chicken or something last time that was very good.

Also been to the Turf Room. Nice selection of craft beers and the food was good. Too bad it's halfway to Iowa.

Do they put those little pearl onions that nobody else knows about in your mass produced-vodka?

Maybe I should give it a try. It screamed of dressed-up TGIFriday's in the past.

Lots of food choices near Oakbrook mall. Wildfire, Reel Club, Maggianos, Gibsons, Ditkas, Restone, & more.

Maggiano's has ruined anything they had going for them.

They were never spectacular, but they were good. They were known for HUGE portions and seemingly fresh-made food. Now that they force you to take half of your order home and it's pre-packaged and refrigerated, I'm not sure what the appeal is anymore. I was seriously let down last time I went (it's been a couple of years - maybe they cancelled that well-thought out plan?).

Ah yes...pearl onions...from a by gone era. Some bars don't even have them anymore. I could eat a whole jar of them.

Isn't all Vodka mass produced? Even Titos.

I don't eat Pasta so Mags isnt in our rotation. The last time I was there I had a fish dish that was great.

I love Titos, but I still like the $22.99 Kirkland Vodka over all others. Another great Vodka for the price point is Sobieski, $16.99 for a handle at Binnys.

Maggiano's has been through different ownerships, no? Somebody buys it and says, oh we can cut costs! pretty soon everything is just a little bit shittier and there's no reason to go anymore.

3/4 of my family became violently ill a few hours after having dinner there. We will never eat a Maggianos again.

Lettuce sold Maggiano's to a group that owns Chili's in 1995.
They still act as a consultant and handle the gift card program.

I cant imagine why anyone in Chicagoland would slum it at a chain restaurant.

Well, Coopers Hawk is significantly better than those other chains and I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants.

I doubt that Coopers Hawk has the entree coming out of a bag produced at a factory.

Exceptions for awesome restaurants with more than one location like Ruth's Chris

I prefer Ruth's Chris over Morton's. My biggest problem with Ruth's Chris is no Oysters...unless they changed their menu.
