6pm ESPN @ Ohio State. Two teams slumping badly. Illinois is very likely outclassed here but if they
have a chance to get OSU this might be it.

Brick, no worries you have the Badgers coming to town on Saturday. They are giving up points damn near faster than the other teams can score.

They are due for a win at Mackey though.

I think I heard this right this morning, they have only won there twice since 1972.

Stuck at the Hyatt Regency watching Illini for the first time this year. Based on these first 10 minutes I can say with certainty B1G basketball sucks.

I don't like arguing whether they are just below average or really bad.

But, Groce is a good coach. He's exactly what you'd want in my opinion given the situation. He just needs to chill out a little on the sidelines.

Apparently exactly what you want is mediocrity.

Mediocrity this season would be fine. Everyone knew 14 months ago that this season would be a rough go. Now that Rice is injured, their only real scoring threat is missing.

There is some interesting talent coming in. Perhaps I missed the line of successful, experienced coaches that were knocking down the door. I don't like Thomas. I don't like Beckman. But, I think Thomas got kind of lucky with Groce.

Weber failed because he got caught up in the politics of Chicago recruiting and got away from recruiting the talent of his choice. He's done quite well at Kansas State. I never understood your hatred of Weber but he's proven yet again that he's a fine coach.

Groce seems more suited for the recruiting battles of Chicago than Weber ever did. He needs to tone it down about 24 notches or he's going to burn himself and everybody on that team out. He had a solid first year and nearly pulled the upset against Miami. This year is a transition year.

I know you and WWN were expecting a National Championship this year. I can feel your disappointment. Hang in there, guys. Better days are ahead for all of us.

No I am not....but going from Self,Weber, to this guy is a drastic down grade!

I don't get it. Why are you down on him this much already?

Last year's team was a doughnut and he took them to the 2nd round of the Tourney. This year's team sucks and they are one winning streak away from making the tourney again.

The recruiting has been pretty solid. What are your expectations?

a x and o's coach.....on the sideline he makes bobby Knight look like Ghandi! These are kids that need to be coached and I seeing him more as a ref baiter and cheerleader. Sorry

Exactly what Self did and continued for a while by Weber. It was done once. Do it again. Those are my expectations.

Fair enough. I think he's better than that.

I give Weber the edge on Xs and Os but Groce is more like Self in the recruiting/relationship aspect with players.

I haven't seen him as a horrible Xs and Os guy yet. But the O concerns me. I don't think there's much O talent there yet so I'm willing to give a year or two to get his people here.

Comparing Groce to Self is moronic
