Need recommendations on best wings to pick up for Super Bowl party.

Online articles suggest Jake Melnick's is best but it's too south for me. Anything north of Armitage. Yes, I'd love to pick up Gator's but I don't want to race between suburbs and city as Sunday is the Super Bowl. On Super Bowl Sundays I start drinking at noon. You don't get to interrupt that.

Honestly, we buy wings from the Deli counter at Jewel. They always work out great.

Kind of a sleeper, but I think you might like my reasoning here....

VINES

I think they have some really good wings.....and they will have them ready on Sunday at 12,....

Many other places, especially those "known" for wings will start frying wings at 8 AM and putting them in the steamer! Not that I would order from there anymore, but Yakzees as an example, those words are ready at 8 AM and then in the food holder until ordered, maybe they get a second dunk in the fryer.

Vines makes them quick and good.

I still like Buffalo Joe's despite the reduced size of the wing they use. I like the one on Howard and Clark.

New documentary on buffalo wings:

http://triblive.com/lifestyles/fooddrin ... gs-buffalo

Quote:
“The Great Chicken Wing Hunt” screened at dozens of film festivals in 2013, can be seen online and on-demand through Google Play, Vudu, Amazon Instant Video, Playstation, XBox Video, Cinemanow and iTunes. It will be featured on Hulu starting Jan. 30. Upcoming theatrical screenings can be found at http://www.chickenwinghunt.com.

Quote:
The irony of the Buffalo wing is that the whole idea was determined by chance. Before that fateful night in Buffalo — March 4, 1964 — chicken wings were usually thrown out or sold for pennies.

“The story is the owners of the Anchor Bar (Frank and Teresa Bellissimo), they got a crate of chicken wings by mistake, which were then thought of as scraps,” Reynolds says. “Teresa wanted to send them back. Her husband thought they could do something with them, but he couldn't imagine using them all for soup. She got into a fight with her husband, couldn't sleep, got up in the middle of the night, and, by morning, invented Buffalo wings. She tested them later that day on her son's friends, and they all loved them.

“She's from Sicily, and they like spicy food. Had she been from another part of Italy, they could have turned out totally different. She added bleu cheese. At first, she put them out for free at the bar, but then people stopped ordering ‘real food.' So, they eventually started selling wings.”

Big Fan, it's for a party...people bring vege plates from Costco. It's not a high end dinner. It's sloppin' the hogs!

Hot Dog Express in Schaumburg has 48 wings for $24. Haven't had their wings, though. Might make a small order for dinner tonight. If they're good enough, they'll be sponsoring my Big Game shindig.

Buffalo Wild Wings is the obvious choice. Why? Because they are hand-spun.

The answer is simple. BigFan may agree (I've never had them from Vines):

Go get some wings from Danny at Toons.
Best wings I've ever had. And they don;t make them way ahead of time - always fresh (no room to store them ahead of time anyway).
They'e on Southport about a block or two north of Grace.

Go to Sams or Costco & buy a 10 pound bag of frozen wings. Throw them in the oven for 45 minutes then toss them in some good wing sauce. No breading & no deep frying. The healthy wing!

Do I need to set the oven to a specific temperature or will the act of simply putting them in the oven do the trick? :P

Sriracha should be applied to wings and things directly from the squeeze bottle immediately before eating.

Eating healthy on the Super Bowl means the terrorists have won.
