I've been on three cruises and not a problem but not in the last 10 years. Seems more recent all the bad news about them. Maybe because they now are double the size with like 6,000+ people?

Do people still cruise Harlem for chicks? I remember one time we picked up this girl's friend and she was completely fucking crazy.

Never been on a cruise, have no desire to. Here is another "bad" thing about going on cruises:

Let's say you're going on a flight to.....anywhere......what's one of the worst parts of your travels? Going through security at the airport. Stand in line, get checked...and again....and again.
You do that twice a day, every single day on a cruise, right? I'm good. I'd rather do it once at the start of a week, sit at the beach for 7 days, then do it once more.

BRick is right. St. John is very nice. I agree with retard also - Honduras was fantastic, though the times I went there were before all of the current problems and the latest couple hurricanes.

But no cruises for me. I try to avoid the bingo-wing crowd as much as possible.

I've got a friend who's one of those types of people who changes his career every year. He's always broke and bitching about how he has no money. Maybe the fact that he starts over in entry level type work every year might have something to do with it. Anyways, his latest career choice is to get employed by one of these huge cruise companies. Sounds awful, and I can't imagine it would pay very well. I'm almost considering telling to sign up for the Sea Org.

Working for a cruise company, you're pretty much living at sea for the entire year. Sounds lovely. I bet they have pools between all the workers on the ship for the last person to get diarrhea.

I can't even imagine the amount of drugs that were consumed on a WCW cruise.

Not to mention, I am going to guess the beds are not 'big fan' size.

If you are this guy maybe not. But for most they are fine. The cabin we were in had queen size and it was as comfortable as any hotel room. But if queen is too small you can upgrade to king. You pick the room you want.

Disney cruises are phenomenal. Absolutely the best family vacation I have ever been on and I can't think there would be a better one.

There is an outbreak of legionnaires disease every once and a while in Vegas. That whole place is one big Petri dish of germs and body fluids, I'm guessing.

That can happen anywhere.

Being stranded in the middle of the ocean while everyone is overflowing the septic system can't.

A woman I worked with went on a cruise in March 2011. Dream vacation, her and her newish husband, both working stiffs, scrimped and saved, blah, blah blah. Six months later, they went again, with her four kids, and his one kid in tow. Three months after that, she was fired and arrested for incrementally skimming between 100 and 200 grand. People who like cruises really, really like cruises.

True.

people do come home sick from trips because of hotels and planes. 700 out of 3500 people is pretty bad. I wonder if it's any better or worse than a school. Does the ship stick out because you really see the numbers?

Did you leave the kids in daycare and go do your own thing?

One day they were in there for about 2 hours and the night before it was over we put them in there for an hour to pack. Most of the time we hung out.

Mrs. Scorehead & I have been on 3 cruises & loved every one. My Wifes Sister got married on a cruise & the 25 of us who were there had a riot. Took the kids on a cruise & they loved it. Gave the in laws a cruise for their anniversary & they loved it. It is by far the best vacation value & you aren't stuck in one place all week. There is more to do on the ship than you can do in a day, & you decide if you want to stay on board or get off at each island. The customer service & attentiveness is unbelievably good. Were going to go again this year.

yeah from what i can gather cruises are a microcosm of life itself as it's all about what you make of it.

if you're a jaded cynical Caller Bob thinking "i'm going to be trapped on a boat for 7/+ days with these rubes who ain't monied enough to afford a proper tropical vacation.... and their fucking kids" and start thinking about random ship diseases and watered down alcohol, yeah, it'll be miserable.

if you're like my grandparents and find the good things in life and have a mindset where you're going to enjoy life no matter what it dishes at you, then you'll be fine.... i suppose.

i'm the former so pardon me while i stay a good 500yds away from cruiseships at every single moment of my life, exile at sea notwithstanding.

I think most people view that as being "more stuck" in one place all week. In fact, you spend more time stuck than "unstuck".

I would never go on a vacation where somebody else tells me which hours/days I will be confined to my hotel/resort. That's essentially what happens while the boat is moving.

Been on 3 cruises in my life, 2 with my family when I was college aged and then one a few years ago with my wife for my 40th birthday. I was on Royal Carribean and had a great time, but there's no doubt the cruise industry has gone way downhill in the past 20 years, particularly in the food department. At its best, the food is the equivalent of banquet food. 25 years ago the food was MUCH better. Our best meal was at the Johnny Rocket's on the ship. Now, the newer RC ships are huge and have over 10 restaurants to choose from so you don't have to eat in the main dining room so I;m sure that's better.

As someone else said, the key is to schedule your excursions yourself. We had some great ones. In Barbados we went on an 8 person cattamaran tour that was amazing. The lady who ran it was a gourmet chef and the food was outstanding, tons of great local beer and a snorkling stop with giant sea turtles. In St. Lucia we went zip lining and had the owner of the transportation company we booked personally drive us around all day and show us the island. He even took us to his house so he could break out his personal supply of rum punch for us. The days at sea were a nice change of pace and a chance to relax by the pool. Drinks get expensive though since they aren't included. At night we would play poker in the casino with the same people every night.

Overall, had a great time, but unless you have low standards for what food should taste like I wouldn't recommend going back. The trip I just got back from in Mexico was about a million times better, but also a lot more expensive so I guess you get what you pay for.

Another big problem I had is that we took off from San Juan and the way crusies work is that when they don't sell out (which they never do) they go ahead and sell the remaining spots at pennies on the dollar to the local Ricans so basically our boat was 60% dirty Ricans.

60% dirty ricans and they cant figure out why diseases continue to outbreak and plague the ships? do I need to call in Ace Ventura for this?
