I am ashamed to say that I liked hearing Patrick. I must just really hate ESPN national because now that Patrick isn't associated with them, I feel like I wouldn't mind hearing what his show would be like. Either I have lowered my standards or I just hate ESPN. Of course, the first time Riles or Morgan or Miller or King makes an appearance, I'm sure I'll be done with him again.

Interesting to put this comment in the MNMS section, but Dr., I was/am a DP fan as well... but I think after what we have had to listen to betwen 12-3 since July as only highligted the "strengths" of DP, Dana Jacobson was brutal yesterday. Sigh.

Maybe nobody heard it but Patrick was on with North this morning and I found it to be interesting to hear his take on ESPN and their over-promotion. My thought is that he was perhaps stifling himself and even he admitted that he wasn't "growing" or something to that effect. His self-awareness of his own show growing stale gave me some hope that he could improve. I, at one time, liked Patrick alot. Then he got a radio show...

I also assume Patrick is putting himself out there for the Score to take a look at him as well.

That would have been an interesting listen. I always got the feeling that DP could do what he wanted with his show. Steroids, TO, HOF, and whatever story of the week were the only things he talked about. I liked him on Sportscenter and the radio show when Dibble was on. I had no interest in Morgan, the play maker, or Miller's thoughts.

Maybe he will reinvent himself. That video of him on his website leads me to believe he is the arrogant, boring, prick he was on the radio. I'm not holding out too much hope for him to be entertaining again. Time will tell.

It was a good interview, however I wish Dan did talk about what happened with Mike that night at Gibsons.
Hearing Fred yell NO was funny as hell.

I'm assuming the Doc means as a syndicated show.
I don't think Dan will be doing anything less than a national show.

Doc I thought the same thing but arrived at a different conclusion.
I just thought that Dan makes a better guest than a host.
Let's call it the Uncle Rico effect.

OK. I wasn't going to admit this but I read last week about that What's Next video on his website and how utterly over-the-top it is.

So, I watched it today. I didn't think it was that bad. Sure, he was patting himself on the back but, it's Dan Patrick, has anybody listened to the show in the past 3 years?

Anyway, what is the 20 day countdown on his website? Is his new show ready to go already?

I've always said Dan is for the future.

I wish I would of heard the interview, as the national show today on ESPN was just plain awful. I think DP might be more open to topics not normally into the ESPN "mantra" of sports reporting, but not by much. He was with them for damn near 2 decades, I'm sure his stuff will sound similar once he goes national with his new show.

I'm listening to the DP/North podcast right now. So far, this is so pointless. They might as well just get in bed with each other.

i thought it was a good interview in that north let the interview breathe, and let patrick speak his mind.

i like patrick as a guest, but not so much as a host. i think he works well with someone by his side, in any event. when he was with dibble, DP's show was great. when he had the hour with olbermann, it was much more listenable.

DP loves the sound of his own voice and tends to go overboard with it, and he needs someone to sort of knock him back into reality.

The best part was Patrick feeling all high and mighty about handling it with class, not airing out management, etc, while the guy he's talking too takes a completely opposite approach, but yeah inside jokes and stories, zzzzzzzz
