Was waiting for the NFL season to be over before starting this year's Championship, award winning coverage.

They changed the Chase format and I was abandoned by my co-host. Other than that the only thing different is the calendar.

They did something that they have never, ever done before: They changed the format of the all-star race in Charlotte.
The long history and tradition of this event will never be the same. I mean, they never change this thing. What were they thinking?

They'll probably change it again before the race gets here in May. Hell, they may change the rules after they drop the green flag.

Moving the Open or Showdown or whatever they are calling the All-Star prelim race to the night before is just dumb. Seems Nascar knows how to take a good thing and mess it all up. The Nascar website is at the top of that list before getting to on the track stuff.

I don't understand this new qualifying format. Are there multiple cars on the track at the same time?

The site is terrible.

My sister got tickets to the all-star race as a gift. Now she only gets to see 1/2 as much racing that night. How can they do that?

In semi-related news - the remodeling in Joliet has already begun - they've already torn down the stands on the end that were always empty.

Yes. Similar to a practice session - they can run a fast lap and sit on the side and wait if they choose to.

Yes. Like Formula 1.

Good. They are knocking down bad seats and selling the areas to corporate parties/hospitality setups.

Homestead isn't a bad track but it just seems weird that 4 guys will for sure be racing for the title there. Now that we know the stakes and the number of parties involved they have to pick a higher profile track. The weather limits them but I would almost rather watch them go at it at Fontana or Phoenix than Homestead...or you move it every year like the super bowl site.

You are welcome. I can't wait for the Harvick v. Dillon rivalry to get consummated on the racetrack.

The progressive banking helps. With the limiting factor of weather the week before Thanksgiving, I would like to see a rotation of Phoenix-Texas-Homestead for the final race.

I've torn the door and hinges off the RaceLog Announce Booth. Everyone is welcome.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll just do it here:
I'd be interested in seeing the NASCAR fans predictions for this season. Maybe we can come up with some make believe system to see who makes the best predictions and forget to check them at the end of the season. :D

Mine look something like this:

Rookie Driver of the year: Kyle Larson. Most would probably say the idiot with the cowboy hat - but Larson just seems like the type of young natural talent that NASCAR hasn't seen since........the #24?? Is that crazy to say?

Crash and Burn/Disaster season from a "big" driver: I'm leaning toward Clint Bowyer for this. He's had a couple of real nice seasons in a row, but he just doesn't impress me while doing it. His team is mediocre, and he has to be getting a little frustrated with the close finishes the last couple years. Time to start making bad decisions that cost him some of his top-10 finishes.

Veteran driver that will break through to the "elite" level: Besides the obvious (Danica  ), for me this is easy: Kasey Kahne. He's been pretty good for a while now. Time to cash in on that equipment and that talent.

My "Final 4" Chase Drivers: Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne. Never count out JJ. Kenseth is the real deal. Hamlin looks strong and ready to bounce back. See above about Kahne. And Jeff Gordon. He has to make it no matter what.

And the champion will be......: Jimmie Johnson. They can change the rules every single year. Chad Knaus is the no-question MVP of NASCAR, and Jimmie is talented enough to follow through on Knaus' plans. They'll figure it out again.

Can't wait for Sunday. I also participate in a low stakes $ contest each year that is pretty interesting and pretty tough. PM if you want more info.

Boogity, something, something, boogity.....

The Final 4 drivers turns into the Final 5 when they let Jeff Gordon in because of some unseemly alliances that caused him to crash in the previous race.

we live in such a shitty time in history. every sport changes their rules yearly because they dont know what the fuck they want. it makes all stats seem pointless. 300 years from now, we won't count anything before 2050. "the 1900's? hahaha lolz, they had cars that YOU had to drive!!"

anybody watching this? i forgot it was on, just turned on the TV and weather delays got me to the last 5 laps. danica patrick holding out in 3rd, so is there any chance nascar remotely activated some computer chip in her car that will allow her another 5-10mph over the rest of the field so she can get a rigged daytona 500 victory in the wake of the PR hit she took when richard petty came after her?

cuz you know it was just NASCAR MAGIC(TM) when junior won the 500 after daddy died the year b4, or was it the next summer race? will we see any more with danica running 3rd with 2 to go?

Dale sr. Died in 2001, dale jr won in 2004.

Your assessment is correct though, there be some sketchyness and possible collusion with outcomes and in race events...
