pretty fkn pedestrian.

Carter had 126 receptions his first four years

Didn't break 80 catches or 1000 yds til his 7th year

Baldwin might be a hall of famer

My advice to you would be to tread lightly in this thread.

Marvin Harrison may come back to bite you.

Carter being the #2 guy most of his career doesn't affect Marvin Harrison

This isn't Baldwin vs Carter in receiving. Its Baldwin vs Carter in being a jerk.

It more had to do with you saying "Didn't break 80 catches or 1000 yds til his 7th year". Harrison never broke either without Manning and yet you thought he was really good before Peyton.

He was a passenger to his defense dominating in the playoffs. Baldwin has his ring and nobody can ever take that away from him.

When its all said and done, the list of accomplishments for Baldwin likely won't even come close to Carter's resume.

He was already good.

And only two years without Manning so hard to compare

Anyway, my point was simply that Chris Carter got to the hall of fame by being a great #2 possession receiver

There are a lot of guys who spend what should be the pinnacle of their professional lives not living in the moment.

OK, so if a player is better than you, take his insults and shut the fuck up

And yes, being calked an appetizer is an insult

Ridiculous. Baldwin should shut the fuck up.

Great analogy. Baldwin sounds like an idiot here, regardless of if Carter is a prick or not.

Which is why he got to the hall of fame

Still was a #2 most of his career

But he sounds foolish in his response. Addressing it by saying "I won a championship" doesn't suddenly change the public's opinion that he is average to below average.

The best response is to live well.

I hate Pete Carroll and the 12th man. Seahawks players are very OK in my book.

He could have worded it better but Carter could have used a better term

Carter is not the first analyst to bring up the receiving depth, but he's the only one to take it to the insulting level of chicken wings

He led the team in receptions for 10 consecutive years. At worst he was a #1 for 5 years and 1A for another 5.

The Moss, Eagles, and Dolphin years are off the table

5 years

But he was a hall of farmer. No denying that. Hall of fame appetizer

OK, even the Moss year where he led the team in receptions and led the NFL in TDs?

You're a tough crowd.

I dont recall that year, so I'd have to rethink it but certainly you can understand why I assume he was not better than Randy Moss in his prime?

I'm sure Moss being triple covered aided him

And moss had almost 200 yds more that year

But again, I'm not ripping him. He was a great possession receiver

He was the #1 guy for years until Moss came in. Even then, he would go for 90/1200 per year. Being a #2 to Randy Moss is not the same as being a #2.

He's 4th all-time in TDs, behind Randy Moss. Your opinion on this is not on real solid ground.

The best Baldwin could hope for is to be is in the Seahawks ring of honor.

Since Baldwin's first three years are comparable to Carters I'm gonna disagree there

But no one is arguing Baldwin being better than Carter

You think Chris Carter being a possession receiver us my opinion?

I dont think I ever saw a game of his where he wasn't labeled as such

My opinion is that he's a hall of fame receiver

He also broke 1000 yepds 8 out of 16 years

Carter was a slightly above average receiver for 7 years, then a great one for 8.

Carter was a huge drug user and a total asshole. His own words. I think after he left Philly is when he got his shit together,

Fact is he called out ab average WR....and the guy fired back with his Super Bowl ring.....good for Baldwin

marino wouldn't say anything like that...but that moot point aside, baldwin just took the "appetizers" remark as a personal offense and since every wide receiver it seems nowadays has skin as thin as a tablecloth, it makes sense that he'd use the "ring rebuttal".

all it does is make for more post-superbowl fodder that feels like...the week after new year's still hearing christmas music.
