The guy is most certainly a douchebag...throw in his whining about being labeled a flopper earlier this week, even though he admits he's a flopper...

...but I have no idea how it would feel to be a young black man and have some middle aged white man at a college sports event say something racial like that to me, so I'm not going to judge him in this particular instance.

As for his draft stock, I wouldn't look at this stuff as much as his game on the court...I really wasn't impressed when I watched him play ISU and from the sounds of it this is how his season has pretty much been going.

WHOA! lets hear his side of the story!

When Smart accussed him of that, I went back and looked at the tape. the fans name is JEFF ORR, he is a long time, diehard TEX AM fan. the guy is at every home game and he travels with the team whenever he can. No doubt the guy says and does things to get under players skin, but if he said what Smart claims there are plenty of other people that would have heard it. he was far enough away that no less than 20 other people are there to back up smart. Plus, would the guy be that stupid to know if used the N word, he would probably never be allowed back at a game.

How about this scenario. The guy got into Smarts head and when Smart had a chance he pushed him....Smart knew he crossed the line and claimed the race card?

This rings right back to when the Milton Bradley claimed Racist taunts by Cub fans in the bleachers, but couldnt point out the fan, nor did one fan ever hear it from anyone else, and almost every fan who was asked, said they would have pointed out the person to security, but none of them heard it.

So, lets see what happens, but I have a feeling the guy who didnt say the N word, as he wants to continue to go to games.

And no, I wouldnt draft Smart, based on what I have seen. Giving that guy a ton of money and free time in the NBA, might be the worst thing for him, but I am sure someone will.

The guy is fucking nuts. I've seen the video of what he does at other games and read the article that mentioned how former players talk about what this guy does at the games. He should act better.
But, I can totally see the scenario that BF lays out as being true.
No matter what, this whole season is going to be a cautionary tale for anyone thinking about going back to school for another year, you don't want to become another Marcus Smart.

Why do we hold kids to standards that the majority of us couldn't meet? Of course we are much older than them and don't live every minute of our lives under a microscope. This is a kid that cared so much about winning that he passed on guaranteed millions.

That's fair...let's see what he actually said...but he certainly said something, as it's already out there that he feels bad about the whole thing...so he was certainly trying to egg Smart on.

Some have said he said the N word...others have said he told Smart to go back to Africa...either one would be horrible and if it's the case, Texas Tech would do well to never let the guy attend another game.

I dont doubt he said something and he didnt just say it once, I would be willing to say he has says it the whole game.

But you just cant accuse people of saying this when they didnt.

Smart is held to another standard because he wants to make millions, he wants to be an NBA player and this is his education. he will run into this for the next 10+ years and he needs to learn it will be part of his life. He will need to prove now it is not an issue before someone gives him $10 mill+.

Either he's not being completely truthful with what he said or Smart has the thinnest skin and shortest fuse of any athlete in short memory.

I'm not sure which it is at this point.

He said something prior to getting shoved (that isn't on camera) and it appears he tells him to go back to Africa after getting shoved. "Go back to" is pretty clear on the video. A middle aged adult should know better.

I think it's unlikely a player just gets up and pushes a fan for no reason at all. I could be completely wrong about it. Considering the guy admitted that he at the very least called him "a piece of shit" I doubt that I am wrong about him saying something prior to getting shoved.

I'm not an expert lip reader but I thought the "go back to" was clear Panther. You may want to take a look at it again. Either way he got what he wanted. He got a kid to lose his cool and the kid got punished for it. He's had a lot of victories this weekend. Hopefully the kid learns to ignore fans like him in the future.

Very true. It's a philosophy I've tried to ingrain into my kids from an early age. It doesn't matter what others think or say about you. It only matters what you think about yourself. Don't allow others to dictate how you feel or define you as a person. You know what you are. Why would you let someone, who does not know the real you, define you by their words? They're truly just words. Sometimes words mean things, sometimes they don't.

I don't believe they get signing bonuses in the NBA and if they do it's very small. This is the type of lawsuit that would be thrown out immediately. I just need some clear evidence of what was said.
