In the spirit of monetize everything, I would think College and professional teams could make good money off this idea. Though I think this is terrible.

Texas HS offering a state championship ring to all students...and not everyone's happy about it

Allen won its second consecutive state championship this season, taking home the Class 5A Division I crown back with a 63-28 win over Pearland back on December 21.

Now, two months later, it's time to commemorate the win with customary championship rings, and Allen (in conjunction with the ring manufacturer, no doubt) is offering the entire student body to share a piece of the glory.

A northern suburb of Dallas - perhaps best known as the city with the $60 million stadium - Allen is now the largest high school in the state of Texas with 5,987 students, so the Eagles could be in line to make some serious change off of this promotion.

Anybody that would buy one of these rings reminds me of the Kane County Judge who got in trouble because of his fake Congressional Medal of Honor. Unfortunately for the Judge, I believe he showed off this medal one day to a real Medal of Honor winner (Harold "Hal" Fritz). Oops.

My mom bought me a class ring when I was a freshman in HS. I didnt really ask for one but she thought it was a cool thing to do. I picked out a white gold with a blue stone. I thought it looked cool. Later that fall the football team won the state championship and guess what their rings looked like... White gold with a blue stone.

I never wore the ring again.

Hey how about teams that hand out rings to ballboys, towelguys, trainers, etc. I always thought a different type of ring should be made out for non-players.

Can people who don't attend the HS buy the ring, too? Hypothetically, a 31-year old living in Illinois. Asking for a friend. Thanks, I'll hang up and listen for my answer .

Some sport should stop doing rings and do championship clocks.

I still can't believe I bought a letterman's jacket in high school. I bet I wore it less than 5 times. Still have it
at home somewhere. Never had any interest in a school ring. The VP of our group here at work wears his
college ring which I find a little odd. Yeah he went to Michigan but c'mon, that was like 30 years ago. I
wouldn't be too happy if I was on the team and they were selling the rings to everyone when the guys on
the team were the ones that put the work and sacrifice in.

I bought a class ring. At Gordon, junior year was when you did it. They even had a "Junior Ring Dance". I did not attend.

I came across the ring in a box last year. Took it over to Archie's on Devon and got $120 for it. Awesome!

Ah yes, the Radtke express that won the title in 97. I watched that team several times that year and was in the dome to see the championship game. Them along with the 87 Brickies were the most dominating high school football teams I have ever seen.
