Dish is by far the lowest cost TV service.

Satellite tv sucks. Then you will always need another provider for your other services. You're better off paying one provider.

We got rid of our home phone 8 years ago, & my company pays for my internet service. I don't have any issues with satellite TV & when you compare their channel packages to Direct TV, Comcast & U-Verse, Dish is way cheaper.

It was great about 10 years ago when I had the means and ability to program the access card to unlock everything (especially the otherwise unavailable at any price away feed for home Blackhawks games ... such luxury).

This post is obviously parody and not in any way representative of anything remotely approaching reality, unless the statute of limitations for lifting satellite TV is passed, in which case it's all true.

I loved being able to program cards. Was right in the heart of when I was watching every WWF, WCW and ECW PPV. My mom was thrilled I was geeky enough to steal TV so she didn't have to pay for all of those.

She also didn't realize that included the porn channels! Victory!

We love our U-verse. Never have any internet problems, and sometimes we have many devices hooked up to it. We've had it for.....3 years-ish?

The wireless TV thing is probably the 2nd best thing ever invented after the Shamrock Shake-like product.

I miss my H-card for "Dave".

I remember reading the best logic ever on IRC explaining why what we were doing wasn't stealing. Something along the lines of "their signals are entering my house! If I can decode them, that's their fault!" Brilliant logic.

Yeah, I was (thankfully) unable to ascertain how they arrived at their position most ... well, probably all ... of the time in that regard. I mean, we all from time to time justify nonsense but that was some special pretzel logic.

While I realize people enjoy complaining about services, the reality is that most providers are actually pretty reliable considering they run on ancient infrastructure. As another poster mentioned in another thread, there have been some incredible advances over the past 5-10 years. Given all the environmental factors that can cause issues with reception and throughput, I think the providers do a great job for the most part.

What is so attractive about wireless TV? Do you actually move your TV around to different rooms?

I have a TV mounted in the corner of my bedroom that is a perfect spot, but isn't near a cable jack. Running a cable to that would be ridiculously unsightly, or a mess.

I have also pulled that box down to the basement once or twice when a lot of big games were on at once.

Heard this about a month ago, and that's why all cable companies are providing internet service because they
know with all the streaming going on they are fucked and need to reinvent themselves. There is a group fighting
them but it looks like they are going to lose which means we all lose :(

$120 bucks a month for the internet in the not to distant future.

The data caps are to combat streaming services and gauge customers, the throttling is to put the the screws to streaming services and let the cable companies offer a "better" service. They will also startto charge Netflix etc for use of bandwith and then that will be passed on to consumers. Of course Comcast will have a shity service to sell you....

Bandwith is cheap and so is fiber. All these things are done to crush competition and gouge costumers. Period.

From reading a few articles, its actually more expensive for them to throttle. The problem is that many times the biggest abusers of streaming A/V are also using encryption for their internet communication. There are costs and challenges of trying to detect what traffic is going to Netflix vs. Youtube. Instead, they probably will balance with some throttling and then providing their own services for streaming that can be provided with HD quality stream and extra features you can't get with Netflix.

If you think about, you are probably already paying $120 a month for the internet. Most data plans for phones are at $30-$50 a month. Internet plans for homes have reaching $45+. If you VOIP, part of that $30+ a month is coming from internet usage.

Nothing better in the summer than sitting out on the back patio watching a game.
Or having two TVs next to each other during football weekends.

So what you are saying is you can move the TV into your office space and watch porn.

My "office space" is filled with kid toys. Isn't yours?

Had Uverse for four years, no issues. Router took a crap, they came out and replaced it with a new DVR and my shit is awesome. Multiple smartphones, laptops and an old desktop connected to a LAN port all work great. I have no complaints...

It could easily be a don't-knock-it-till-you-try-it sort of thing, but watching a big TV outside seems a little shirtless-driving to me.

What about when the Tv is put in a window, so I can have a BBQ and keep an eye on the game?

I don't know, I haven't really thought this through. I just believe televisions belong indoors. I'm old-fashioned. I'd probably just put a radio on.

Nowhere near shirtless driving, imo
