I mean, Michael Jordan wouldn't have been the same if he spent his career in Topeka either.

That is what makes Chicago great Frank Thomas and Atlanta great Greg Maddux so great. They were able to overcome playing in a lesser cities.

I agree. Michael Jordan would not have been the same if he spent his career in a city without an NBA team. Just like Derek Jeter would not be the same if he spent his career in Tacoma.

The rings really have nothing to do with it. Jeter played on some of the best rosters ever assembled. Biggio probably wins 5 rings to if you swap him out for Jeter on those Yankees teams.

Don't get me wrong, Jeter is great, and I think he's a HOF'er, but Biggio's numbers are very similar too. Not sure why Biggio didn't go in first-ballot.

I have a great deal of respect for Craig Biggio, and I believe he was a great player. He is at a very high level of excellence, but he is not at the Derek Sanderson Jeter level of super terrific outstanding excellence.

However, I have a real hard time not respecting and enjoying the work of Rivera and Jeter, especially Rivera. Dude was the greatest closer of all time with one pitch. One pitch that everyone knew was coming and no one could hit.

We disagree on virtually everything. However, I already think very highly of you. So I would have to say that it has not changed my opinion of you - no.

Plus, if we are to say that greatness comes from merely sharing a birthday with a Hall of Fame superstar, must we not also condemn those who share a birthday with a horrible person? I think not. I am not prepared to say that everyone born on April 20 is as evil as Hitler, though it is certainly possible that some are. As great as Derek Sanderson Jeter has been, his greatness is dwarfed by the magnitude of Hitler's evil. I am an amateur scholar of World War II, and this is a fact.

What if Mother Theresa and Hitler had the same birthday? Then what would you do?
