Do you guys not realize that New York IS more important than the rest of the country?

I mean, Michael Jordan wouldn't have been the same if he spent his career in Topeka either.

That is what makes Chicago great Frank Thomas and Atlanta great Greg Maddux so great. They were able to overcome playing in a lesser cities.

I agree. Michael Jordan would not have been the same if he spent his career in a city without an NBA team. Just like Derek Jeter would not be the same if he spent his career in Tacoma.

Actually, baseball reference has him as an exact match for Craig Biggio.

I can't tell you how disappointed I am that I couldn't find a gif of Craig Biggio face planting on that stupid hill in the outfield in Houston. Craig Biggio is one of my 10 least favorite athlete's ever.

Who are the other 9? In alphabetical order, by last name, if you'd be so kind...

The rings really have nothing to do with it. Jeter played on some of the best rosters ever assembled. Biggio probably wins 5 rings to if you swap him out for Jeter on those Yankees teams.

Don't get me wrong, Jeter is great, and I think he's a HOF'er, but Biggio's numbers are very similar too. Not sure why Biggio didn't go in first-ballot.

Jeter's post season OPS is about 200 points higher and Short stop is much more important position than 2b or cf

I have a great deal of respect for Craig Biggio, and I believe he was a great player. He is at a very high level of excellence, but he is not at the Derek Sanderson Jeter level of super terrific outstanding excellence.

Darwin Barney has to get an OPS over .230 before I have a strong opinion on him one way or the other. I loved me some Jose Lind though.

Darwin Barney? This is a thread about excellence and greatness. Please refrain from bringing it to this level. Laugh out loud.

You left off the last part of his quote.

"ALLAN JAMES BURNETT and I will be picking them up and laying them down all night long."

Holy mackerel, I thought the Darwin Barney reference was bad. Ha ha ha!

A.J. Burnett is quite possibly my least favorite player in baseball.

Now look, as Men, lets cut out this cattish rumor-mongering. It is unfounded, unseemly and most important un-gentlemanly. I'd have thought all (well most of) your fathers properly instructed you all in the all important Man Code. Remember, this isn't the MSFMB.

Besides, IF one of the greatest of all time allegedly gave scores, if not hundreds of lovelies herpes, his selection was so great and his pimp hand so strong that none have ever come out to even suggest such slander.

Jealousy and envy, jealousy and envy. Bitches.

I am right there with you on your enjoyment of Yankee mediocrity and looking forward to it continuing.

However, I have a real hard time not respecting and enjoying the work of Rivera and Jeter, especially Rivera. Dude was the greatest closer of all time with one pitch. One pitch that everyone knew was coming and no one could hit.

To all those idiots that say there is no such thing as a "clutch hitter" I give you Derek Jeter. Jeter is just one of those guys that has had the knack for rising to the occassion. It's not just how many hits. homers, stolen bases and RBI's one collects that matters, but when you get them.

I share a birthday with DEREK SANDERSON JETER. Does this change your opinion of me in any way? I will hang up, and listen for my answer.

We disagree on virtually everything. However, I already think very highly of you. So I would have to say that it has not changed my opinion of you - no.

Plus, if we are to say that greatness comes from merely sharing a birthday with a Hall of Fame superstar, must we not also condemn those who share a birthday with a horrible person? I think not. I am not prepared to say that everyone born on April 20 is as evil as Hitler, though it is certainly possible that some are. As great as Derek Sanderson Jeter has been, his greatness is dwarfed by the magnitude of Hitler's evil. I am an amateur scholar of World War II, and this is a fact.

What if Mother Theresa and Hitler had the same birthday? Then what would you do?

Exactly.
