They probably do, but they don't make a peep, lest they incur his wrath.

Neo liberal people are weird and contradictory. It is whatever is in fashion or can be monetized.

Neo liberal people? Why can't it just be Bernstein? I guess it's easier to condemn an entire group of people.

You have also mistaken the definition of neoliberal. George Bush was a neoliberal, and I don't think he liked gays.

It sure beats the old standby of you hate black people if you don't like the NBA.

Ok maybe I chose the wrong label? There clearly is a "fashionable" liberalism. I must me pro this or pro that or cause this or that because it is to their advantage.

How about you just don't label it and agree that Bernstein is a douche?

I think that was my point exactly and there are many more in media like him. What the hell is wrong with saying that? He is full of shit. We are about the same age. He grew up calling his friends and classmates gay and burrito. He played that shit out on his show for years. Is it wrong, yes. Is he fashionably changing, yes.

I agree, but it's not political. Why must everything be political? Bernstein is a turd, plain and simple. I don't know if he's politically motivated. He's just a simpleton with no self-awareness. Why use him to admonish large groups of people who may or may not agree with him?

Are you saying that playing "smear the queer" would be frowned upon these days?

Yeah pretty much and rightly so. To champion Jason Collins or whatever (and I think he said he should have a spot on the Bulls bench) and utilize that is stupid. Bernsie is an idiot.

Only by the rooftop incident.

I do miss the days when we would mock the faux intellectualism of Dan Bernstein and the epic futility of Tiago Splitter.

No, you were right; Dan is pretty solidly neoliberal in the Bill Clinton/NPR/Matt Yglesias sense of the term.

The last week was pretty rough listening. You're a bigot if you don't agree with Bernstein's viewpoint on gay's, never mind the last 10 years of joking about gays on the show to his now over the top anger at anyone who makes a gay joke. Then the Friday show with the bullying topic all show down, with Bernstein's ridiculous take on conceal and carry at the end of the show.

Bernstein has become more interested in taking social issues with a sports angle and turning his show into a liberal talk show. If you disagree with his opinion, you're a bigot/racist.

Yeah, the liberal talk show where poor people should just move, and the great thing about a recession is that architects do your landscaping.

As for Larry, he protests shots directed his way during Hater Wednesday, so this isn't a surprise.

I don't want to be accused of listening to "imaginary radio" here. I haven't heard bernstein vociferously protest a crap the way Larry has. But there have been occasions when he has made it obvious he thought a crap of him was ridiculous and it was clear that it was quite an effort for him to "just take it".

Correct, but it would be quite a stretch to associate his neoliberalism with his stance on gays.

What is his stance on gays anyway?

I guess this is where we have confusion over whether what he does on the radio is "a bit". I do think he often takes positions for the sake of having something to discuss on the show, but when he his turning purple yelling or sneering at callers, I think his emotions are sincere. I'm not sure he knows what he actually believes.

It is the ambiguity of his position that has me questioning his sincererity. What? He's had a recent epiphany or someone close to him has come out as being gay? Great, share the news and celebrate, but like everyone else it becomes old by the end of the week. His brand of exaggerated outrage is like that of a flaming queer, and not all gay men are flaming queers.

His outrage is definitely exaggerated, but if it's contrived, he is one hell of an actor. I don't like phoniness. Mike North going off on Ozzie? He was so proud of that. But anyone who listened to North for any length of time had to know it was completely contrived and phony. He wasn't really that angry at Guillen. He was using him to make himself look like the fake radio tough guy he wanted to come off as. bernstein, on the other hand, I think his emotions get away from him. He may start out just fucking around with a guy like Giacomo, but by the time he is busting the veins in his neck screaming at the guy, that shit is real.

Definitely would. If I could somehow get Amanda Knox involved that would be the perfect I may not survive the night danger sex.

I think you're spot on with the comparison with one distinct difference. North can't/couldn't make a career of going off on the local teams' managers, on the other hand bernstein has come to believe that he can do so with Twitter straw men and callers. North may have been caught up in the moment just as bernstein has become caught up in his act.

Just as we question why his sudden change on "the gays" he's now stuck with the change because it would then prompt us to ask "wha happened?", again.
