Football is great. I just don't think that workers sign away rights that should be obvious because they chose one profession over another. You obviously do.

Well, he sees more football than most so-called fans, so his opinion is probably more informed.

No it isn't. You are a fan of a band that was defunct before you were born. If they were playing at Shark City tonight and you preferred to watch their videos on Youtube rather than driving to Bloomingdale, I'd say you probably aren't quite the fan you claim to be.

So we should never be outraged or try to change established cultures? "It's just the way it is" is the best way to veiw these things? I thought you were a little more progressive than that.

Hazing should not be accepted in any sport on any level. The fact that the guy in that college band died because it's the ritual to assault new band members is criminal. Some of the high school ones are very cruel and criminal as well.

The NFL needs to nip this stuff in the bud. If they want to pat themselves on the back for tolerance in accepting an openly gay athlete they need to make sure inappropriate conduct bears serious consequences.

There is sort of a double standard going on with all of this NFL stuff. You have people like Matt Bowen who say "Bountygate is no big deal." People like that operate from a perspective that football is the tough guy sport and because the sport is brutal all "boys will be boys" conduct must be considered perfectly acceptable. I personally can understand players roughing up the opponent during the play before the whistle blows. But why harass your teammate? If a player needs "to be toughened up" perhaps he just needs to be cut and not harassed.

I consider football savagery and those who play it savages. I'm fine with that. I just find it somewhat disingenuous for those who enjoy such savagery on Sunday to stand in judgment of it in the week leading up to the show.

That could explain why they have so many criminals playing the game.

Yeah, that is the same thing. What would happen if you forced a co-worker to pay you $10,000 for not going on a vacation with you?

No, no, no ... I'm all for your putting on your Polk High jersey, cranking 'Glory Days', and explaining the virtues of the mindset that "well, that's just the way it is, it's the way it's always been" ... JORR Tough.

What narrative ? I have never called anyone a bully..i don't even care for the term. Hendry was just a moron. whistler was a sox fan and probably cozstanza.

this whole story is boring and very uninteresting ..I've done my best to avoid it. i really have more of a problem with making rookies pay tens of thousands for steak dinners n drinks.
. is cognito an asshole? Absolutely ..this whole thing was very avoidable if martin stands up for himself .

It is true that some professions allow their employees to get away with a lot more than other places. Part of that I think has to do with the relationship with the public and clients in a given job. You can't get away with certain types of behavior in certain environments. The NFL shouldn't think it is above reproach because the sport is violent.

I think Martin is a person with an illness (bipolar or something on that order).

Regarding bullying more generally, I draw from my own experiences. I was definitely a bully to many kids and was on the receiving end of it too. The height of bullying was the six football teams that I played for. My Schaumburg travel team was an eye opening experience. I distinctly remember such gems as hearing people called a burrito, to which the stock response was "yes" I am a female ass grabber. So they started calling people mag, which presumably was a male ass grabber. The culture of every football team was terrible with all the internal fighting. It was amazing that the team would pull together during a game. Being the small fast guy, I was an easy target. I remember standing up to several bullies, and they would back down.

Not every football player is a savage. I don't consider quarterbacks, punters and kickers to be savages. With the exception of some blocking most wide receivers don't typically lay out their opponent. The guys that typically blow people brutalize the opponent are all defensive players in particular safeties, linebackers and defensive ends. Plus the running backs that stiff arm and lower their helmets. The safeties and linebackers in particular have the advantage of a running start before they lay someone out. I also think the kickoff and punt coverage teams are prone to guys trying to lay people out because of the running start they have and because the special teams guys are often scrubs who are trying to make a big hit so they can get regular playing time.

Every sports team I was on was the same way. So were my friends. That still doesn't justify what was done to Martin and other players as well as the trainer. Personally I never targeted the weak. There was no fun in teasing someone that you knew would be afraid to do the same to you.

I guess you forgot the part where Icognito paid for Martins vacation to Vegas and Martin said he was in and then backed out.

I am sure Icognito had expenses he paid for ahead of time. Hookers, Drugs, suites.

Even if you don't have an issue with what was done to Martin and other players, I am not sure how you can find what was done to the trainer acceptable in any environment.
