What the hell "happened" that put Jonathan Hood in this lowly state anyway?
He lost his cool and quite publicly chased off Telander when they had a show together in February of 2005 - the Score subsequently let his contract lapse six months after.
Hood had bided his time and was partnered with Doug Buffone when in response to WMVP hiring Jay Mariotti, WSCR believed they needed their own feature columnist/host and hired Rick Telander. Thus came the Rick Telander Show with Hood and Buffone. Telander didn't want to work 5 days, didn't want to do show prep, didn't want to take calls, and often came in only wanting to talk about what he had written fort he Sun-Times (which wasn't necessarily topical for the day's events). I remember one Hood blow up when Telander missed the show unannounced (again), called in and seemed disinterested in being on the phone. After the call Hood wasn't diplomatic in what he thought about Telander's absence and phone call.
Hood didn't chase off Telander as it was Telander who decided he didn't want to do radio on a daily basis. Doing 30-60 minutes of a program, fun and cool. Doing 4 hours of showgram, not so much fun and work.
