Went to order some Dinner via GrubHub.

I select DELIVERY within my range and I select La Gondola.

I click all my items and use the CC on file and the order is placed.

I get a receipt Email that tells me what time my PICKUP order will be ready.

But I chose delivery.

I then hit the button to call the establishment if there are any problems.

The call is routed to GRUBHUB customer Service who will handle the issue.

After doing a test order, she agrees, it responds with a PICKUP when you order. So, she calls La Gondola.

La Gondola says they dont deliver from the location that is listed as a delivery location, however the Grubhub gets them to deliver.

Grubhub customer service, comes back on the phone with me and tells me they dont deliver, its a mistake which location these go to, but they will deliver the items I just ordered so no mistakes are made.

Great! I am totally OK with that. it took 25 minutes to resolve, but thats still fine.

I know the delivery is going to take an hour so, I go throw some laundry in and go to take a shower, Get dressed again, head downstairs, crack a beer, turn on the TV, getting a little hungry, so I check the time and there is a text messsage.

SORRY, BUT THEY ARENT GOING TO DELIVER THE ORDER, BUT I SENT YOU $10 IN FREE GRUB HUB FOR THE INCONVENIENCE!

Is the $10 sufficient?

I think that would be recompense or restitution.

Retribution would be them throwing your food through your window and swearing at you.

I would hate to see what the retribution would be if bigfan had actually called the place himself.

It should have, at the very least, exceeded the amount of the order and been no less than $20 ... enough to make it worth your while to order again and perhaps get something you wouldn't normally get hoping to hook you on something new and thereby retain the customer.

This seems like an afterthought ... fuck it give him $10, the guy will still order again type thing.

I had a similar screw-up recently with a pizza place completely screwing up the order.

The owner called me the next day and gave me $20 off the next order.

My son told me not to order from them again so they know they that we won't be treated that way and bought off. He's 10.

I hope you don't take it out on the restaurant, bf. That fiasco is 100% on GrubHub.

I would never order from the restaurant again or use Grub Hub. Screw the credit. Just get a refund for what you paid for, and tell them to fuck off.

Also, I think the right word might be "recompense" ... retribution is kinda like what some drunk injuns want to see happen to the devil white man, for example.

Based on this news, GrubHub filed for an IPO.

1. The Grubhub owner is an original poster to CSFMB. first 200! He was going to advertise here when it first started.
2. I don't blame La Gondola at all, Pat the owner is a good guy and if I told him what happened he would give me $20 a free pizza, not even a question.
3. I order out 2-4 times a week. Right now, no food in the fridge....really nothing. So, let's order away.
4. Prior to this event, I have been ultra hesitant to use Grub Hub during prime time. I think the delivery time for Grub hub food is usually longer and the issue of a 3rd party trying to correct order issues, usually results in a mess.
5. While I might use Grub Hub again, it wont be soon and it wont be often. Just cant deal with the 70% success rate for food delivery!

Franklin, I don't know. It was a long time ago and I know he signed up, as we spoke on the phone, I know his name is Matt. I don't remember his username,

Is this an acceptable answer to you?

OK. Since we're talking usernames I'd like to ask one.
Baby mcnown said in the drinky thread that he's never used any other username and said you'd agree. Do you?

Sorry playing the 'I know something you don't know" playground game with Franklin. You can sit against the wall and we will let you know when you can play.
