I think this Bulls team can beat any team in the East except Indiana and Miami. I wouldn't expect them to lose bad though. They've lost their 2 best offensive players and they've had a bunch of injuries and they will like finish with the 3rd best record in the East. I have absolutely no idea how Thibs continues to make chicken salad but now I expect him to turn any team he is given into a winner. Best coach in the NBA.

13-7 since the Luol Deng trade because of course they would.

I'd still take Pops. But you can make a case for both guys. There is something to the idea that Thibs burns guys out by April.

Definitely true. Thibs needs an off switch. The fun question is who is the worst coach in the league. Even with Anthony Bennett getting his first double double its Mike Brown isn't it.

Always thought Woodson was a solid coach. NY management sucks though. They've become the Cubs of the NBA - a loser franchise inexplicably beloved by many.

What's more inexplicable? Fans loving a franchise they grew up with or people refusing to eat any product associated with an animal?

I wish Ricketts would spend money like Dolan. If anything they are like the Islanders. Mid market payroll in a major market with an old stadium that is used an excuse for inferior production.

I still think Maurice Cheeks would be a good coach if he had some decent players.

The Dolans just spent a billion dollars renovating Madison Square Garden into a state-of-the-art facility, just in time for the city to announce they're going to evict them in ten years so they can rebuild Penn Station. And you thought the rooftop drama was fun...

I probably could have phrased that better. I'm coming from a more media centric perspective. I don't like the national attention a shoddy franchise like the Knicks generates. I realize the attention is most likely an extension of the city's place in our culture and economy, but still it rubs me the wrong way to see mediocrity and substandard performance rewarded with press and general media buzz. Every five game winning streak inevitably leads to ESPN leading SC with the Knicks while asking "Is NYK back?" No, they suck and have so for the past fifteen years. I don't know if the Cubs get the same national love, but the perception of them getting buzz despite losing annoyed me.

It gets a ton of attention because people care about it. This is the same logic as to why entertainment news covers the artists they do instead of the artists most consider "good."

If there is a group of people willing to consume something in large amounts...someone is going to make sure to provide it to those people, and benefit from it.

I was thinking it's just the Bobcats and the fact he isn't happy. I don't think Thibs can make miracles with players that are done.

Ben Gordon could always score, but he just couldn't play much defense. The Bulls are actually lucky he didn't resign with the team because Paxson would have overpaid him. Dunleavy is too inconsistent of a scorer. The fact that Dunleavy can play 2 or 3 positions does make him more versatile. Thibs doesn't play his end of the bench guys. So if they picked up Gordon he probably wouldn't see any time.

How come no one reported that the Bulls signed Jarvis Varnado?

Barring a total collapse this Bulls team is going to win about 45 games, which is exactly what they did last season. The Bulls have some tough teams coming up on the schedule, but also some teams they should just roll over. I don't know if they can pull it together and beat all of the teams other than Indiana and Miami and a good portion of those Western Conference teams. If they beat the teams they should they will probably end up at least .500 for the season.

The Bulls are going to have home court advantage in the first round and beat some terrible Eastern Conference team in like 7 games before getting steamrolled by Indiana or Miami in 5.

Steamrolled is a very strong word. I expect the Bulls to hold their own. They just couldn't make a shot in the 2nd half yesterday. They'll lose in the 2nd round but it will be competitive.

Fair enough. They will compete their asses off like all Thibs teams but still lose in 5 games.

Not sure how quality the win was but yeah those last two minutes with Hinrich and Teague shows how important basketball IQ is to winning teams.
