The Blackhawks are generally at the bottom of the league in fighting majors. They trail only the Red Wings, Devils, and Hurricanes. The Red Wings are, of course, our blueprint for finesse and discipline. The Devils are also known for playing with structure. That leaves Carolina, where no one fights not because their system requires they don't but because they're a big old country club that can't bother to give that much of a fuck about anything. They don't play defense. They don't run-and-gun. They don't do
anything. They just are. They play out their string with the bare minimum of effort or passion and then get back to doing whatever else it is they do between hockey games, which is clearly far more important to them.
Exception: tonight. Noted fuckface Antoine Roussel ran their goalie hard. They've had trouble with goaltenders getting hurt this year, especially Cam Ward, who isn't even that good when he is healthy. Totally avoidable on Roussel's part. He could have slowed up but didn't, and chose to go full force into Khudobin.
So then Ron Hainsey, who was nearby and has never been known for fuck-giving even before he wound up in Raleigh, just drops 'em right then and there and fucking
erases this guy. Pummeled him like he meant to. Roussel, near the top of the league in penalty minutes, never stood a chance, that's the son of a bitch he was dealing with in that fleeting moment in time.
