Johnny B with a real sports guy might actually be a really good show. And they can leave Buzz there as well for his 'news"

Brandmeier lost me when he went Hollywood. Then, when he couldn't make a living in tv/movies he got back into radio but lost his momentum.

Assuming it was live, he had Super Dave Osborne on this morning (aka Marty Funkhouser from Curb your Enth.) for what seemed like 45 minutes straight and it was 5 star radio. The Redd Foxx shit was priceless. Never thought I'd say that.

That interview was pretty good.

Why was JB so muddled and unclear about his move to LA, though? Do you remember when that happened, Q? Why couldn't he of went to another station in Chicago when the Loop was sold? He's still pretty close, but Brandmeier could have been the Babe Ruth of Chicago FM radio if he didn't leave (surpassing Dahl and Meier) IMO.

I heard him explain it on air before - he was chasing money owed to him. The company who bought the station he was at owed him money, and they were based in California.

It was a great move, though, as he really made some huge connections in the entertainment biz over there.

Interesting perspective.

Was JB at the same station as Kimmel and Carolla, or did he just miss them?

Did you listen this morning, Q? The raccoon story had me dying on the way home from the gym.

The August ratings were 0.4, so my money is on no.

I didn't hear that but I was listening. I loved the broken bit on giving away tickets. By far my favorite radio personality.

i listened a bit this AM but he's too neurotic for me. getting all worked up about "maybe the tickets are fake!" who cares? give them away and say maybe they're fake.

He was fishing for a bit. He often takes those risks. Sometimes they fail. Sometimes it works. You could tell they didn't have much material today. Too bad Antoine Carr wasn't in town.

I really end up listening to this show more often than not in the mornings. You can tell when they've done no prep at all but Johnny is entertaining, and it is a good palette cleanser for me before sports all the rest of the day.

I would certainly listen to this.

Maybe The Game can bring over Drinky with Johnny B. I'd listen.

Easily my #1 in the morning drive for me. Occasionally switch to M&H when it is slow or "bits of" but just so damn entertaining, and I can get sports over the rest of my day. (Although I like the Grote Friday Dance Party.) Used to listen to M&M about 3 years ago religiously in the morning, but I find myself hardly listening to them at all anymore, even though I like that guy who does the baseball trivia question.

I have been tuning into his show the past few months and really enjoying it. I have called in a few times and you are right, he's very good with callers.

Most entertaining show on the radio, and it's not even close. Can't believe they didn't bring up the 100 boners guy this morning until like 8:15.

yeah, this show is a lot of fun. Too bad no one knows it exists.

Far better than the Score or EsPN in the morning, and WAY less ads.

This show is good because the callers are pretty good. And he takes quite a few of them.

the callers aren't that great. Johnny's just good at dealing with them.

On a interesting note, he does get Bernsie'd up when a caller asks him how he's doing...

Best morning show on right now. Period. Tallest midget award though.

Why limit it to mornings? What radio show is better?

What's the last thing you want to hear when orally pleasing Willie Nelson?

No guesses??

OK

I'll give it to you.

"I'm not Willie Nelson."

I'd listen to B&B over Johnny.

I'd listen to B&B over Johnny.

A year ago, I would have agreed. I missed all of last week's radio. I'm up to October 10 for Johnny's podcasts. I wouldn't think twice about a B&B one. It's pure entertainment, without the condescension.

listening to yesterday's show on-line. they have some idiotic sports guy cluttering up a good 20 minutes of the show. Remember when Dahl had Les as a co-host? similar vibe. brutal.
